“Shalom laYehudim, Shalom laBnai Noach, Shalom laGoyim”
It is the evening of the 6th day, yud-bes beShvat, Parashas Beshalakh, tav-shin-ayin-vav, the evening of the 5th day, Thursday, 21 January 2016, webcasting from the one and only semi-non-Jewish Jewish State of Israel.
Why do I call it the “semi-non-Jewish Jewish State of Israel”? Because of what happened yesterday when COGAT, that’s an acronym for the office of the Coordination of Government Activity in the Territories, announced it was declaring 1500 dunams, that’s about 371 acres or 154 hectares, to be state land, which of course elicited buckets of abuse from abroad.
The State Department in Washington issued the following statement: “We strongly oppose any steps that could accelerate settlement expansion and we believe they are fundamentally incompatible with the two-state solution.”
Translation: The U.S. agrees that Judea and Samaria belong to the so-called Palestinians, and never mind there is nothing Palestinian about them. The two-state solution is a euphemism for saying, “The West Bank belongs to the Muslims, to the Arabs, not to the Jews. It is their land and peace will come when the Jews hand it over.”
Although, in fairness, Israel has never claimed this land. Ever. The Balestinians do all the time and Israel never challenges that claim.
Then there was the response of the Secretary-General of the quasigovernment of Planet Earth Ban Ki Moon, secretary-general of the Nations United against the Jews, who said he was “worried” and “urged Israel to improve relations with the Palestinians.”
Fabulous. He says we have to improve relations with the Balestinians. Less than a week has passed since not one but two Jewish women were stabbed, one to death, creating a widower and six orphans; a couple weeks after an Arab with citizenship machine-gunned to death three Jews in Tel-Aviv; some three months during which 28 innocent Jews at random were stabbed shot, run over. And he says Israel has to improve its relations with the Balestinians. By implication, our relations are not good enough; that is the cause of this violence, and it is Israel’s ultimate responsibility for the situation. In other words, the party responsible for the slaughter of these 28 Jews is the Jews themselves. They have to improve their behavior.
But again, in fairness, Israel so mishandles its relationship to Judea and Samaria, it brings on responses like these and news reports such as Reuters today whose lede sentence was, “Israel confirmed on Thursday it was planning to appropriate a large tract of fertile land in the West Bank, close to Jordan, a move likely to exacerbate tensions with Western allies and already is drawing international condemnation.”
Yes, “Israel is planning to appropriate a large tract of land,” but from whom? The word “appropriate” is most inappropriate in this situation.
What Israel is doing is declaring this largely barren tract to be state land on the basis of a Turkish law from 1858 that states that after a certain number of years land lies fallow, the government can claim for its own.
But my question is, “Why now?” I don’t mean why this week but why after 47 years? Why not 47 years ago? What is also of note is this reliance on Turkish law, and the reason for that takes us back to the truth that Israel has never claimed the entirety of Judea and Samaria as Israel’s as of right.
Not only that. Israel relies sometimes on Jordanian law and sometimes on British Mandatory law and all for the same reason. As far as Israel has been concerned for 47 years, ownership will be determined via negotiation with the Arabs. Israel, again, has never unequivocally claimed this land and has ruled it under martial law as it awaits the Arabs to sit down and make peace and truly negotiate so that each side not only gets but gives.
Reuters reported that COGAT had decided to seize the territory, and again I want to know why this was never done in the past.
Ban Ki Moon, in a virtually ritualistic way, said in his statement that “establishing a new settlement is a violation of international law,” and as usual, that law or laws is or are never cited.
As usual, Israel said nothing in response to this mantra.
I think the root cause of this Israeli behavior, 47 years old now, derives from the dream of the secular Zionists that their state was for Jews but it was not to be a religious state.
Herzl’s original title for his book was Der Judenstaat, not Der Judischer Staat, a state of Jews but not a Jewish state, namely a religious state.
In other words, it is no accident that the ruling class in Israel, COGAT, whose last letter stands for “territories,” recoils from using the terms Judea and Samaria famous for their religious associations exclusively.
The Jerusalem Post daily makes my blood curdle using the term “West Bank,” as the MSM around the world calls Judea and Samaria, a.k.a. the “occupied Palestinian territories” against which Israel also remains mute.
Of course, the MSM would use words like “appropriate” and “seize” reflecting the international consensus that the real estate in question does not belong to Israel but the Balestinians. Israel tolerates this and then gets upset when the whole world says, “All the Jews have to get out and the land must be returned to its ancient owners. Jews living in settlements is wrong.”
One of the enemy spokesmen today said COGAT did this today in response to the speech by the Jewboy ambassador from America.
Perhaps, but it really doesn’t matter. My objections are not time-bound but refer to the entirety of Israel’s relationship to Judea and Samaria since 1967. It is an utterly dejudaized, non-religious relationship.
By contrast, I think Israel would fare better in the world by doing exactly the opposite of that advised by Beilin and Livni, etc. who don’t want to turn this into a religious conflict. As the penultimate chapter in my books makes the point, the invention of the Balestinians was as much an Israeli operation as an enemy maneuver. Beilin, Livni & their community want nothing more than to deal with the Arabs as a fellow nationality just like Israel entitled to at least a part of their ancient homeland too. With a Balestinian nation like that, just like the Jewish nation, it becomes possible to work out a nice, amicable, cooperative sharing of the land.
This is what’s wrong with Israel today. Instead of bleating constantly that we want to share Balestine with the Balestinians but they don’t want to share it with us, Israel might say, “This is our land. This land is rooted in the nuclear core of our national life and identity and we consider those who deny this to be at war with our religion. The violent rejection of our right to this land is an aggression against the Jewish religion and we will not tolerate that.”
Israel must make the case that Islam is a totalitarian ideology claiming the right to destroy all other religions in the world, starting with ours. And we are not going to let them.
Israel needs to re-claim its truly Jewish religious identity and rebrand the enemy. Israel must say there are no Balestinians. These are the same people, these Muslims, who brought down the World Trade Center. They are the same people who on November 13 in Paris murdered 130 non-Believers, as two weeks ago here they murdered three in Tel-Aviv.
The endless flow of Jewish blood drawn and spilled by barbaric Muslims is, by their own admission, a jihad, a religious war, but we will not dignify by calling a holy war, for their savagery is the apotheosis of unholiness.
Israel must broadcast to the world that Judea & Samaria are ours as of right in international law & claiming the opposite is just more, old-fashioned Jew-hatred in modern dress.
Yes, Israel’s refusal to wave the banner of its religion and its rights in gentile international law leads to such outbursts as the one yesterday in London at King’s College where the ex-great commando Ami Ayalon and former admiral of Israel’s Navy but political birdbrain with the brain of dove was not even allowed to coo his support for the Ancient Ones because a mob of antisemites caused a raucous, broke windows, set off fire alarms, shouted slogans from outside the location loud enough to make it difficult to hear him.
This mob of antisemites also was reported to have gotten violent with supporters of Israel on the scene as they shouted “Free, Free Palestine” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
The Jerusalem Post, as usual, led off its coverage with this: “Pro-Palestinian protesters became violent, smashing a window and setting off fire alarms Tuesday,” etc.
“Pro-Palestinians”? “Free Palestine”? No, the rioters were not pro-Palestinian but antisemites — antiJews as I prefer — and the Jerusalem Post would raise the quality of its journalism by choosing the latter formulation over the former.
As for shouting “Free Palestine!”: The historical ignorance implied here is unbelievable, but again Israel has itself to blame. Before Zionism, there was no Palestine and there were no Palestinians so what is this “Free Palestine” business? Israel has to publically take on the mountain of lies that antiJews live by in our generation but Israel never does. Israel has to publicly, the prime minister, declare Palestinian Nationalism to be a hoax; to declare that the Arabs in Judea and Samaria have nothing Palestinian about them and certainly no right to an independent state on our land.
Instead, even the current right-wing government is chained, enslaved, to the concepts of the blithering idiots of the Israeli Left who brought down the Oslo Abomination on us, whose effects continue to bleed us. The prime minister has vowed to demolish the home of the 15 year-old savage who murdered Daphna Meir, hy’d, instead of immediately rounding up the criminal’s family and with the clothes on their backs shove them into the Gaza rectangle, accompanied by a government statement declaring that since the Land of Israel is Israel’s, any goy — and I would deliberately use that word — who wants to live here with us can but only if he or she behaves himself or herself.
This little murderer destroyed a family’s happiness and for this his family will suffer too. Israel has to shed, throw off, the chains of the idiotic ideas, assumptions and wishes reflected in the Oslo accords. Israel has to swear off the Two-State Solution that has failed since its inception 23 years ago. It has been a failure and we in Israel are under no obligation to pretend it is not. We in Israel declare it a failure and are under no obligation to deny that truth, the way the Muslim secret agent in the White House denies the existence of Islamic terrorism.
Just today, we read of Tewfik Tirawi, member of Fatah’s Central Committee and, if I remember correctly, head of the PA police who was exposed as a leader of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, who said on Ma’an TV, which comes from Bethlehem, I think, that the idea of a state in Judea and Samaria is only a stage, which has been PLO doctrine since 1974. Peres the delusionist and his fellow fools like Beilin pretended in 1993 that the PLO had given up on the two-stage strategy which calls for publicly striving for a Balestinian state in Judea and Samaria but only as first stage of the even older policy that calls for the complete destruction of Israel, G-d forbid. Fatah, don’t forget, was created eight years before the Six-Day War by some refugees from the 1948-49 war whose goal had nothing to do with statehood in Judea and Samaria for any Balestinians
Here was Tewfik Tirawi just the other day rehearsing the dream as old as 1948 of destroying the Jewish state, G-d forbid. Here was this Fatah leader declaring his opposition to the two-state solution, but no one, certainly not Ban Ki-Moon, will tell him his goal is opposed to the two-state solution. Only Israel gets criticized for living peacefully in communities of Jews built on barren hilltops as damaging the chances for the two-state solution.
That is another radical maneuver Israel must take, a corollary of denying the existence of any “Palestinians” with a right to a state in our ancient homeland. Israel must insist that that the opposition, the criticism, the endless resolutions against Israel passed in the UN and its agencies are nothing but old-fashioned Jew-hatred in modern dress.
Four days ago, Giulio Meotti reported on an estimated 700,000 Jews in Europe who are considering abandoning the Continent. In another JPost item, 43% of the Jews in France are thinking of Aliya.
Yesterday, JPost’s man in Berlin cited the spokesman for the Hamburg Jewish community who said, “We are no longer safe here” and referenced the deteriorating security situation for Jews, including the fear of blaming Islamism, his word. Just to use that word is to call down trouble on yourself. In a report by a German expert on extremist ideologies, he wrote of the “hate-filled demonstration” against the Gaza War in 2014 when a synagogue in Wuppertal that replaced the one burnt on Kristallnacht in 1938 was again the target of arsonists planning to torch it but were discovered in time.
All over Europe, what enflames this generation of Jew-haters is the pack of lies that Palestinian Nationalism is that Israel never ever combats.
So, in conclusion, Israel has to do a reset on its public diplomacy by declaring the Oslo documents a dead letter. Israel has to declare the promise of Oslo a failed fantasy. Tewfik Tirawi himself indicated as much in that interview, in which he also insisted, by the way, that “Adolf Hitler was not morally corrupt but daring.”
In response, Israel has to announce that with such men it will no longer deal. Israel has to point its finger at the head of the PA negotiating team Saeb Erekat and say the same thing because Erekat has said the Jews never had a temple on the Temple Mount and in 2002 claimed Israeli soldiers massacred 500 innocent Balestinians in Jenin — exactly as Haj Amin al-Hussein in 1929 declared the Jews had massacred 500 at that time which accusation launched that year’s satanic pogroms.
Israel is the object of insult and abuse and in no small measure because it cannot or will not slay the dragon of this generation’s pack of lies about Jews.
That is what antisemitism is in every generation: tell whopping lies about Jewish evil that have no basis in truth. In our time, antiJews shout, “The Jews stole Balestine from the Balestinians!” and Israel responds, “Let’s a make a deal.”
This paralysis, this refusal to take on and demolish the lies is what contributes to the abuse. Israel never defends itself. Israel is passive in the face of these lies, scorn and hatred based on them.
In this, Israel’s acceptance of the myth of a Palestinian people with rights to an independent state smack dab in the middle our Promised Land that we brought back to life invites the abuse and in a sense is a form of self-abuse.
Israel has to recover its self-respect as Jews who love and live their lives by the Bible. We are the People of the Book, and if Israelis don’t do that; if they disrespect themselves and their “constitution,” the Bible that constitutes us as a people and our rights, we should not be surprised that the goyim dish out their disrespect, hatred, scorn and abuse.
It is Israel’s doing that an Allan Dershowitz can claim to be a lover and supporter of Israel’s right to exist but not in Judea and Samaria. He is opposed to the settlements, like Charles Krauthammer and other IBJs.
What Israel has to do is tell Diaspora Jewry who think like Dershowitz that as he and they would not tolerate being told they could not live in Cambridge, Massachusetts or Beverly Hills because they are Jews, so they must fight for the right of Jews to live in and own Judea and Samaria.
Indeed, I’ve heard Dershowitz admit, LTF also, that yes, Israel has the right to live in Judea and Samaria but better to surrender that right because peace with the Ancient Ones is more important than Jewish rights.
To which I say, “Says who?” Where is written that we Jews have to waive our right to what is rightfully ours because “Palestinian” rights to a state trump our right to our ancient homeland? There are so many ramifications and evil byways that are rooted in Israel’s refusal to fight for its rights and to demolish the lives of Palestinian Nationalism. I hope that happens before Moshiach comes, though I suspect that only by making that happen will Moshiach come. OK. That’s it for this week. I’ll be back on Sunday, G-d Willing after the Holy Sabbath. In the meantime, Leila Tov miEretz Yisrael.

About the Author Sha’i ben-Tekoa is the author of
“Phantom Nation: Inventing the ‘Palestinians’ as the Obstacle to Peace”available at Amazon.com on Kindle or 3 Volume Paperback. Check out the reviews on Amazon.com Book Description: Publication Date: January 4, 2014
If you are a supporter of Israel, “Phantom Nation” is a must-read book.
If you support the putatively Paleolithic “Palestinians,” you had better read this book. Sha’i ben-Tekoa skewers the myth of a “Palestinian” nation with rights to land the League of Nations specifically recognized as Jewish.
The author, hired for a research project by the Office of Israel’s Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir discovered the first mention ever in a United Nations resolution of “Palestinians” in the year 1970, three years after Israel conquered Judea and Samaria,a.k.a. the “West Bank.” The author also shows how this very no-name of a name, “West Bank,” had to be invented for hills the Arabs never had a name for. Hence, the sterile, topographical description lacking all historical associations, which exposes the fraud that is the “Palestinian” counter-claim to land the League said was Jewish. Before 1959, when Gamal Nasser of Egypt conjured up the idea of a phantom “Palestinian” nation, the record of Holy Land history is perfectly empty of any mention of them. After Ben-Tekoa’s government assignment ended, he went in search of the full story surrounding the birth of this allegedly archaic community, and the story he tells covers the entire sweep of Zionist and Israeli history, its wars and waves of Arab and Muslim massacres (terrorism) and the birth of this notional nation a Biblical generation of forty years after the League of Nations’ decision. He likens the rise of “Palestinian Nationalism” to Holocaust Denial as a twin perversion of history; as our generation’s successor ideology to medieval Christianity and Nazism as forms of homicidal anti-Semitism. It is our time’s way of justifying the mass murder of Jews. “Phantom Nation” is also a crackling, riveting, great read.
Review From Outpost, April, 2015, by Ruth King, Board of Directors, AFSI: Americans for a Safe Israel “…When Shai Ben-Tekoa was doing research for the Office of Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir on the United Nations bias against Israel, he discovered that in the period of The League of Nations (1919-1945) and in United Nations Resolutions from 1945 until 1969 there was not a single reference to the Arabs as “the people of Palestine.” That term had its debut in Resolution 2535 in 1969. One year later, UN Resolution 2628 referenced the Arabs as “the Palestinian people” inventing a national identity which everyone has been parroting ever since. These facts inspired ben-Tekoa to write his meticulously researched and detailed three-volume work Phantom Nation: Inventing the “Palestinians” as the Obstacle to Peace. These volumes are packed with more information that any single book on the history of Israel. Ben-Tekoa chronicles it all–from the early pre-state Zionists, to the rebirth of the Jewish state, through the endless wars and terrorism, to the present Holocaust denial and international anti-Semitism.
Furthermore, Ben Tekoa understands the role that the Koran and Islam have played in the Muslim/Arab war against Israel. Israel stands in the way of Muslim dreams of a Caliphate with Sharia law throughout the Middle East. In this respect he goes beyond some of the best books on the conflict, including the late Irish politician Conor Cruise O’Brien’s The Siege and Samuel Katz’s Battleground.
The blood curdling anti-Jewish fulminations of Iran are a call for a final jihad against Israel. Bat Ye’or in her many books & articles detailed the Islamic origins of anti-Israel hatred as did the late Saul Friedman in his splendid Land of Dust.
I highly recommend Ben Tekoa’s work. Phantom Nation belongs in homes, libraries, and should be studied by all Israel support organizations.
