The people of Israel should apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea & Samaria – now!!

Why should the people of Israel apply Israeli Sovereignty over Judea & Samaria Now?

1. It’s the right thing to do and always has been.

2. It will disable the propaganda ploy intended by the Arab Palestinians, the Arab League and those Leftists in Europe, Asia, the US and the UN who support them. They proclaim they will declare a new State of Palestine, [a Second State of Palestine] in Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights, the Jordan Valley and all of Jerusalem that was illegally occupied and desecrated by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for 19 years from 1948 to 1967. And most of the world rolls over with them.

3. It will distract, disrupt, disturb the headlines of Barack Hussein Obama’s opening moves in his election campaign for the 2012 election for President of the United States. He will fume, thunder and excoriate the Jews of Israel, America and the world – which will turn the voting Jews in America against him.  IF the Jews of Florida cut their voting support for Obama in half, he may lose Florida and maybe the election. Then he cannot further harm the human, civil and religious rights of the Jewish people AND the American economy may be able to safely recover from the disaster he has spawned on the American people – which negatively affects people and countries all over the world.

4. The people of Israel can do this much better and more safely than if the Israeli government has to do it. This is a much bigger campaign than camping out in hot tents to protest the high cost and unavailability of housing – and the high cost of cottage cheese. These points have been adequately made and the protestors now know how to effectively be heard. To defend the Jewish Nation/State of Israel for the Jewish people and all of Israel’s residents, this should be done now – not later after the General Assembly gives its approval to the Pals.

5. IF the people of Israel rise to this sacred challenge, I believe the world as a whole will be better off and safer. Israel and America can devastate Iran’s nuclear weapons’ and missile capability because they will then have the will to do so. They certainly have the means.

6. Judea and Samaria are the heart of the Jewish peoples’ Nation/State of Israel and Jerusalem is her soul. Let’s together work to defend her!

1. Regaining the Initiative: Hundreds at the Conference for Applying Israeli Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria

WOMEN FOR ISRAEL’S TOMORROW – (Women in Green) Hundreds of people packed the Machpela Visitors’ Center in Hebron [next to Marat HaMachpela – Tombs of our Matriarchs and Patriarchs] for the “Regaining the Initiative – Israeli Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria” conference that was organized by Women in Green, in cooperation with Professors for a Strong Israel, Israel National News
(Arutz 7), and the Machpela Visitors’ Center.

The purpose of the conference was to declare, again, that Eretz Israel is ours, and because it is ours, Israeli sovereignty is to be applied to it.

One speaker after the other related to the need to apply sovereignty and the complexity of the issue: what are the diplomatic, economic, security, demographic, American, and Arab consequences.

MK Tsipi Hotovely, MK Aryeh Eldad, Caroline Glick, Prof. Rafi Yisraeli, Eren Bar-Tal, Yoram Ettinger, Dr. Yitzhak Klein, and Dr. Gabi Avital kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, the leaders of Women in Green and the moderators of the evening, explained the activities of the movement in the Judea region – the struggle for Eretz Israel on the ground, literally, the struggle to open the Za’atra route, the struggle
for a Jewish Shdema and Adurayim, the struggle to save state lands at Netzer from Arab takeover, and more. All of these struggles are important, but this is not enough. Every day, every minute, the Arabs, who are well financed by anti-Semitic international organizations,
take over more and more state lands and hills that belong to us, to the people of Israel, to the State of Israel. They are establishing facts on the ground and stealing Eretz Israel.

It was clear to Yehudit and Nadia that, in addition to the important localized struggle on the ground, we must lead the great step of demanding the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, and therefore they initiated and organized the conference.

This isn’t the first initiative. In 1985, then MK Geula Cohen initiated a draft resolution of a law for application of sovereignty over Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza District. Yehudit Katsover read selections from that initiative by Geula Cohen – moving passages about our right to the Land, and the urgent need to apply sovereignty. It’s as if this draft of a law was written for our time.

The lectures at the conference were simultaneously translated in earphones for the English-speaking participants.

An optimistic spirit enveloped the conference. Yes, the application of sovereignty entails difficulties, but they can be overcome, and we will not relinquish the Land of Israel because of such obstacles.

MK Tsipi Hotovely, the initiator of the law for the application of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, spoke of the practical aspect of the application of sovereignty.

MK Aryeh Eldad said that, in his opinion, Jordan is Palestine, and therefore the idea of consensual transfer is to be advanced.

Caroline Glick, the Deputy Managing Editor of the Jerusalem Post, and the Editor in Chief of the Latma site, said that the application of sovereignty is the only option if Israel desires to exist. “True, this is not simple, but the alternative is national suicide.”

Yoram Ettinger presented optimistic statistics on Israel’s demographic situation, and refuted the demographic lie. Jewish demography is on the rise, and Arab demography, on the decline. He also presented statistics on Israel’s good situation in the United States, in the
Congress, and in American public opinion.

Eran Bar-Tal, the editor of the Mekor Rishon economic supplement, spoke on the economic aspect of the application of sovereignty, and the extent its application could solve many economic problems, including the problem of housing that is on the agenda at present.

The data presented by Dr. Yitzhak Klein show a dramatic change in public opinion, which is moving to the right. This change creates an opportunity to change policy soon. No more talk of a Palestinian state or of withdrawals, but talk of the application of sovereignty over
Judea and Samaria.

A survey conducted in May 2011 by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs headed by Dore Gold showed that a very high percentage oppose the handing over of territories, even within the framework of an agreement: more than 55 percent, and it reaches 90 percent regarding the possibility of the handing over of territories that control the Ben-Gurion International Airport.

Dr. Gabi Avital, the Chairman of Professors for a Strong Israel, summed up the evening and called upon the public to be optimistic.

The struggle for the application of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria must continue and take on added momentum in both the public and parliamentary spheres.
MK Ze’ev Elkin, Coalition head and Chairman of the Eretz Israel lobby, sent a letter to those attending the conference in which he wrote:
No place is as suitable as Hebron for a conference discussing Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. The first act of acquisition in Eretz Israel took place in Hebron. An act of acquisition that the entire world knows! The application of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria is the most just solution. Historically, we belong to this hill country, and this hill country belongs to the people of Israel. I congratulate those attending the conference, those speaking at the conference and the conference’s organizers, for pushing to raise the consciousness that we did not conquer a foreign land, we rather returned to the regions of the Promised Land, and therefore Israeli sovereignty over them is only natural. With my blessings, Ze’ev Elkin.

& 2. Hevron Conference tackles applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria By Josh Hasten

Several hundred people from all over the country, along with members of Knesset, educators, and, journalists, gathered in Hebron on Thursday July 21, 2011, for a one day conference exploring the possibilities of Israel asserting sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.
The event, organized by the Women in Green organization, featured lectures by Israeli experts in the fields of politics, academia, security, demographics, and economics, who all made the case for Israel to annex the areas acquired in the Six-Day-War. The events’ speakers also addressed the future status of the Arabs living in Judea and Samaria, should Israel take such measures.

Jerusalem Post correspondent and LATMA founder Caroline Glick suggested that Israel assume control over Judea and Samaria similarly to the way Israel annexed the Golan and the Eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem – “quietly” without drawing the world’s attention. She stressed that regardless of whether Israel annex those areas slowly over time, or all at once, either way, we will pay the price both diplomatically and militarily (arms funding ed.), so it’s best to annex all at once. Glick said that most Israelis understand that future withdrawals from Judea and Samaria are a recipe for the destruction of the entire country, citing Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000 and Gaza from 2005, which subsequently led to rocket attacks and wars as the ultimate proofs. Glick was also critical of the Right in Israel for remaining quiet while talk of establishing a Palestinian State is rampant (which would be another terror state she is convinced), while not presenting other rational and realistic options.

In regard to the economics of why annexation makes sense, Makor Rishon Economic Correspondent Eran Bar-Tal talked about the economic practicalities, of officially joining Judea and Samaria with the rest of the country. Currently he said, people focus on doing business “North to South” in this country, when in reality it is much more practical to focus on “East in West” with communities in Judea and Samaria just ten minutes away from Kfar Saba and Israel’s other economic hubs. He also said that the Arabs living in Judea and Samaria would benefit economically from such an arrangement being enveloped under Israel’s umbrella citing the practical and financial detriment for Israel currently relying on foreign workers.

MK Aryeh Eldad focused his talk on the fact that a vacuum has been created here in Israel where the Arabs are making claims – an end to “occupation,” and a demand for self-determination, while no leaders in Israel respond by clearly stating that the “Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people”. Eldad says, While the Arabs demand sovereignty, we as Jews, fail time and time again to demand our legitimate sovereignty over all of Israel. Eldad believes the ultimate solution is to annex Judea and Samaria and give the Arabs living there full Jordanian citizenship.

MK Tzipi Hotovely said that she favors a staged approach to “implementing sovereignty” over Judea and Samaria (she is against the term ‘annexation’ since she feels the term implies that you are lacking a connection to the area.) Hotovely feels that the biggest issue is what to do in regard to the Arab populations in Judea and Samaria. Therefore, the best approach she feels is imposing sovereignty firstly over the Jewish communities in area ‘C’, since only 100,000 Arabs live there, which can be a very important experiment in restoring civil control over the entire area, and later on finding a legitimate solution in regard to the Arab population. She declares it’s logical for almost 600,000 thousand Jews in Judea and Samaria to declare their sovereignty, just as Israel, with a population of six million Jews, declared independence in a sea of hundreds of millions of Arabs.

Arab and Middle East expert Professor Rafi Yisraeli admitted that if he felt a two-state-solution would bring peace then he wouldn’t oppose such a plan, but since he feels strongly that it won’t, he is against. Yisraeli said that the main problem is that if you give the 3.5
million Arabs in Judea, Samaria (and Gaza) a State you are not solving the greater “Palestinian” issue because the other [supposedly]6.5 million “Palestinians” in the Middle East would also demand a solution and hold Israel accountable for their current status. He added that while he wasn’t against negotiations leading to the Oslo Accords, the reason they failed is that while the Arabs during those talks spoke of “the right to self-determination,” Israel never demanded recognition as a Jewish State at that point, or our own right to self-determination. In other words while Israel was willing to recognize the PLO as a partner, the Arabs never recognized the plight of Zionism. He concluded that if Israeli Arabs are interested in joining a future “Palestinian” entity they would have to relinquish their Israeli citizenship, but for Israel that wouldn’t be the end of the world, since that would increase a Zionist majority in the Knesset.

Ambassador Yoram Ettinger focused his words on debunking the myth that Jews in Israel including Judea and Samaria will become a minority anytime soon. Ettinger said that despite the claim that ‘time is against Israel’ in reaching a deal with the Arabs because of demographics, the opposite is in fact true since factors indicate that Jews in Israel will remain a clear majority. Ettinger said that the Jewish birth rate is in fact increasing while the Arab rate is decreasing. He also cited an increase in Arab emigration to other countries particularly Arabs living under PA control. Ettinger also documented the fraudulent methods in which the PA conducts their census, and said that those skewed numbers are what the world bases their false claim that Jews in Israel will become a minority. He concluded by talking about the importance of Aliyah to Israel to further bolster our clear Jewish majority.

Dr. Yitzhak Klein, the Director of the Israel Policy Center stressed the time to assert sovereignty is now since negotiations have failed and the Oslo period is officially over. He agreed with Caroline Glick’s assessment that the majority of Israelis do not want to make
any more concessions, which will only lead to an increase in terror.

The conference was summarized by Dr. Gabi Avital Chairman, of Professors for a Strong Israel who insisted that the shared message from all the event’s speakers, despite differences in strategy for implementation, is the fact that the ‘Land for peace’ mantra has
proven to be disastrous, and that the only way towards a real peace is for Israel to annex Judea and Samaria.
Conference organizers – Women in Green heads Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover thanked everyone for attending, particularly those who arrived from Tel-Aviv and other places on the other side of the “Green Line”. They stressed the importance of Hevron as the venue for the event since the city of Hevron embodies the foundation of Jewish history in the Land of Israel.

2. B. The Sovereignty Conference is on youtube!

Reality is completely different than what the Left and the media tell us. “Time is in our favor “(Yoram Ettinger) and “The only option for Israel is to apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria”  (Caroline Glick)

This message was passed on by the speakers at the academic conference “Regaining the initiative- Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria” that took place a few days ago in Hebron at the Machpela Visitors Center, organized by Women in Green in cooperation with the Professors for a Strong Israel, Arutz 7 and the Machpela Visitors Center.

We have put the entire conference (in Hebrew and in English) on youtube for the many people who were unable to attend and wanted to hear the speakers.  It’s important to spread the message of sanity expressed at the conference.
Please pass on this email to all your lists, family and friends.

& 3. JEWISH, NOT ARAB, ROOTS IN JUDEA & SAMARIA by HILLEL FENDEL ARUTZ SHEVA 7 www.IsraelNationalNews.com Nissan 17, 5771, 21/04/11

The demand that Israel not settle Jews in Judea/Samaria ignores thoroughly-documented Jewish roots in Israel, & particularly in Judea/Samaria.

U.S. Pres. Barack Obama’s demand that Israel not settle Jews in the Biblical areas of Judea and Samaria ignores thoroughly documented Jewish roots in the Land of Israel, and in Judea/Samaria in particular. Ambassador Yoram Ettinger, a former liaison for Congressional affairs in Israel’s Washington embassy, lists in the latest of his periodic position papers some of the evidence showing that Judea and Samaria has Jewish, not Arab, roots and the area was Always Known as “Judea and Samaria”
Ettinger negates Obama’s claim – enunciated during his June 4, 2009 speech at Cairo University – that “the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in” the Holocaust. For one thing, Ettinger notes, many world-renowned travelers, historians and archeologists of earlier centuries refer to “Judea and Samaria,” while the term “West Bank” was coined only 60 years ago.

Jordan gave the region this name when it illegally occupied it after Israel’s War of Independence. No nation on earth other than Britain and Pakistan recognized Jordan’s claim to Judea and Samaria.

Among the travelers, historians and archeologists who referred to Judea and Samaria are H. B. Tristram (The Land of Israel, 1865); Mark Twain (Innocents Abroad, 1867); R.A. MacAlister and Masterman (“Palestine Exploration Fund Quarterly”); A.P. Stanley (Sinai and Palestine, 1887); E. Robinson and E. Smith (Biblical Researches in Palestine, 1841); C.W. Van de Velde (Peise durch Syrien und Paletsinea, 1861); and Felix Bovet (Voyage en Taire Sainte, 1864). Even the Encyclopedia Britannica, as well as official British and Ottoman records until 1950, used the term Judea and Samaria, and not the West Bank.  The Land Was Named “Palestine” in Order to Erase Jewish Presence.
Ettinger goes even further back, and says that the name “Palestine”, which had nothing to do with a people as none by that name existed, was given to the Holy Land for the sole purpose of erasing the previous name of the country – Judea – from human memory. The Romans, whose plan this was, similarly sought to extinguish Jewish presence in Jerusalem by renaming it Aelia Capitolina. Arabs Came in the Last 150 Years.    When speaking of “Palestinian national rights,” it must be similarly kept in mind, Ettinger notes, that most Arabs residing today in Israel – anywhere between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean – have their origin in a massive 19th-20th century migration from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and other Moslem countries. They adopted the title “Palestinian”, which gives the impression of ancient ties to the land. Town Names Betray Their True History.  Finally, Ettinger says that almost all Arab localities in Judea and Samaria have retained Biblical Jewish names, thus reaffirming their Jewish roots. Examples include the following:

Anata is Biblical (and contemporary) Anatot, the dwelling of the Prophet Jeremiah.

Batir is Biblical (and contemporary) Beitar, the headquarters of Bar Kochba, the leader of the Great Rebellion against the Roman Empire, which was suppressed in 135CE.

Beit-Hur is the biblical (and contemporary) Beit Horon, site of Judah the Maccabee’s victory over the Assyrians.

Beitin is biblical (and contemporary) Beit El, a site of the Holy Ark and Prophet Samuel’s court.

Bethlehem is mentioned 44 times in the Bible and is the birth place of King David.

Beit Jalla is biblical (and contemporary) Gilo, in southern Jerusalem, where Sennacherib set his camp, while besieging Jerusalem.

El-Jib is biblical (and contemporary) Gibeon, Joshua’s battleground known for his command to stop the sun and moon (Joshua 10:12).

Jaba’ is the biblical (and contemporary) Geva, site of King Saul’s son Jonathan’s victory over the Philistines.

Jenin is the biblical (and contemporary) Ein Ganim, a Levite town within the tribe of Issachar.

Mukhmas is biblical (and contemporary) Mikhmash, residence of Jonathan the Maccabee and site of King Saul’s fortress.

Seilun is biblical (and contemporary) Shilo, a site of Joshua’s tabernacle and the Holy Ark and Samuel’s youth.

Tequa is biblical (and contemporary) Tekoa, home of Prophet Amos.

Arabs Never Wanted Palestinian State
In another of his posts, Ettinger has negated the US government position that a Palestinian state is the crux of the Arab-Israeli conflict and that its formation would resolve the situation. He cites proofs from recent history showing that Arab antipathy to Israel not only predates Palestinian concerns, but often sidesteps such interests.

Israel’s war for its independence in 1948-9, for instance, was conducted by 7 Arab countries at the expense of local aspirations. Though Egypt conquered Gaza, and Jordan took Judea and Samaria, and Syria claimed the Golan, in none of these areas was a government of local Arabs allowed.

When Egypt conquered the Gaza Strip, it proceeded to prohibit “Palestinian” national activities and expel its leadership. Not only did Jordan not grant local independence to Judea and Samaria, it actually annexed these areas to its own country. When Syria occupied and annexed the Hama area in the Golan Heights, the Arab League outlawed a provisional “Palestinian” government there.

In short, Arab “rights” to a state in Judea and Samaria are historically weak and were long ignored by other Arab countries.

www.israelnationalnews.com

When the US defeated Mexico in the Mexican War, what did we do? We annexed the Southwest. When France defeated Germany in World War I (more or less), what did it do? It annexed Alsace and Lorraine. After World War II, how did the Dutch obtain compensation from Germany? They annexed certain lands that were later sold back to West Germany for a large sum. Many such examples could be offered.& 4. TIME TO ANNEX JUDEA & SAMARIA? By John Hinderaker, PowerLineBlog May 1, 2011 & June 27, 2011:    I do not understand why Israel has not already annexed Judea and Samaria. These regions, the heart of ancient Israel, are generally known today as the “West Bank” of the Jordan River. Three times, Arab states have attacked Israel in an effort to carry out a second Holocaust. Three times, Israel has defeated them. No principle of justice required Israel, having escaped annihilation by force of arms, to retreat back to the inadequate borders of 1948.

If Israel had annexed Judea and Samaria decades ago, most of the subsequent tortured history of its relations with the Palestinians would have been avoided. Most observers have assumed it is too late for such a “radical” step. But the Palestinian Authority’s threat to declare its own nationhood unilaterally, along with its rapprochement with Hamas, has promoted Jewish annexation again.

The Jerusalem Post reports:   Ideas about annexing parts of the West Bank that until recently were considered extreme have been gaining traction in the Knesset in recent weeks as the Palestinian Authority continues threatening to declare a state unilaterally in September. …

“We’ll have to protect ourselves,” [National Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau] said. “If [the Palestinians declare a state], I’m going to suggest to my government to extend our sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and over the highly populated blocs we have in Judea and Samaria, just to start with.”

“A Palestinian declaration of statehood would officially bury the Oslo Accords, which state that final borders will be decided via negotiations and that unilateral actions constitute violation of the accords,” [Likud MK Danny] Danon said. “The Palestinians declaring a state would free us of all the diplomatic, security, and economic commitments we made in the Oslo Accords.”

Danon favors responding to a Palestinian declaration of statehood by annexing all of Area C, which includes all the West Bank’s Jewish settlements and empty land. He said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu should follow the example of his predecessors Levi Eshkol, who annexed eastern Jerusalem, and Menachem Begin, who annexed the Golan Heights.

A source close to the prime minister said that Netanyahu has kept his cards close to his chest as to how he would respond to Palestinian unilateral action, but that he has said in the past that Israel has its own unilateral options.

Danon said he hoped the threat of annexation could help Netanyahu persuade European leaders to stop the United Nations from voting on Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly in September.

My own inclination would be to aim higher. Annex all of the West Bank, not just portions, and entirely moot the idea of an independent Palestinian state, not just deter the U.N. from supporting one for the moment.

Some will say that such annexation would violate international law. But, except for certain limited areas where nations have agreed to cooperate to advance specific mutual interests, there is no international law. When has international law ever protected Israel from its enemies? Never.

When Arab states attacked Israel three times, did that violate international law? Certainly. When Palestinians launch rockets into Israel from Gaza, does that violate international law? Of course. When Iran and other countries ship munitions into Gaza and the West Bank for use in terrorist attacks against Israel, does that violate international law? Sure. When Arab terrorists blow up buses and restaurants, slaughter Jewish families in their sleep in an effort to destroy the state of Israel and kill as many Jews as possible, does that violate international law? It certainly violates any law, national or international, that may apply. Has the world ever cared about these countless violations of international and domestic law by Mid Eastern Arabs? Not much–with the single, honorable exception of American Christians.

Israel has always understood this. International law, the UN, and world opinion are all more or less useless. Israel’s own resources, determination and force of arms have alone preserved the country’s existence. So I say: if annexing the West Bank is “illegal,” then, having ignored the Arabs’ violation of every known rule of law for more than 60 years, the world will just have to ignore an illegal act by Israel, too.

What would become of the Arabs now living on the West Bank? The answer depends in part on demographic analysis, but I would propose a Right of Return: all Arabs now living in Judea and Samaria would be allowed, or if necessary required, to return to their compatriots in Jordan, Gaza, Egypt and Lebanon.

In my view, Israel should have reclaimed Judea and Samaria long ago. Most think it is now too late for such decisive action; but some will say, better late than never.

& 5. How Israel Should Deal with PA’s Intention to Declare a State by Hillel Fendel Arutz Sheva 7 IsraelNationalNews.com

Dep. Foreign Min. Ayalon, ex-Ambassador Maz’el, Hevron’s David Wilder, Yesha’s Danny Dayan, Legal Forum’s Nachi Eyal state their views. Published: 29/04/11

How should Israel deal with the Palestinian Authority’s intention to declare, with United Nations General Assembly support, a state in all of Judea, Samaria and Gaza this coming September?

Three well-known figures – Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, ex-Ambassador to Egypt Tzvi Maz’el, and Yesha Council Chairman Danny Dayan – answered this question for the weekly B’Sheva magazine. Hevron Jewish Community David Wilder and the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel also issued their opinions.

Their answers: Ex-Ambassador to Egypt, Sweden and Romania Tzvi Maz’el:
We must deal with this on the diplomatic and informational levels… It appears that the PM is traveling to France and Great Britain to discuss this topic. In my opinion, he must make clear to the Americans, Europeans, and others that convening the UN General Assembly [for this purpose] will strike a blow at all the agreements we have signed with the [PA], which determined all problems and issues that arise between us and them…must be solved in direct talks between the sides

When a foreign body such as the UN decides on the establishment of a Palestinian state, it essentially voids the Oslo Agreements of their content. In such a case, Israel will have to act unilaterally to protect its interests, without coordinating with the PA as we do today…

In addition, all the negotiations between Israel and the PA are based on UN resolutions 242 and 338… and on which were based the Oslo Agreements. The moment that the UN recognizes a Palestinian state, it means that 242 and 338 and all agreements based on them are void. This must be stated, in legal and political terms, as clearly as possible.

In addition, the General Assembly can only recommend, but cannot make binding decisions…Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon:  Let us not frighten ourselves with ungrounded theories. The Palestinian move for unilateral recognition is a threat with nothing behind it, and will not serve the Palestinians. A decision by the General Assembly will not change anything on the ground, and certainly not without Israeli cooperation…We are working on many fronts to present the Israeli position, and many countries are realizing that this unilateral move is not relevant. The PA’s actions and intentions prove again that they are not interested in real peace with Israel – for if they were, they would come to the negotiating table and talk with us…

Those in our country who say that September will be very fateful for Israel, are often the same ones who systematically call on Israel to retreat from its position. Israel has dealt successfully in the past with even bigger challenges than this one, and has flowered and blossomed afterwards. We are in the midst of a ‘political intifada’ on the part of the PA, and we must continue to watch out for our security and interests…  At a time when we see many changes in regional regimes, it is important for the world’s democracies not to allow the establishment of another terrorist state in the Middle East.

Danny Dayan, Chairman of the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria:   The first and primary thing that the government of Israel must do, even without taking the Palestinians’ intentions into account, is to declare clearly our claim to ownership and sovereignty over all of Judea and Samaria. While the Palestinians claim this area with lies and distortions, we must present the People of Israel’s unshakeable claim to its homeland and its intention to actualize this right. But if the Arabs talks about national rights and Israel demands only security, the game is lost from the beginning.

Of late, the government of Israel has been broadcasting signs of panic in light of the PA’s intentions. Expressions such as a ‘diplomatic tsunami’ that await us [as DM Ehud Barak said – ed.], simply increase our enemies’ motivation… causing self-fulfilling prophecies. This vicious cycle must be stopped immediately.
How? By making a 180-degree turn in policy: No more promises for concessions and gestures if they drop their unilateral approach, but rather a clear and direct threat that their unilateral steps will be met by some unilateral steps of our own. But not merely declaratory unilateral steps, like the one they are planning, but some very practical ones – such as our annexation, with all that that entails, of all or parts of Judea and Samaria… We have many tools at our disposal… and we must be less restrained in using them.”

David Wilder, Spokesman for the Hevron Jewish Community (written after the announcement of the Hamas-Fatah agreement): …I believe the agreement is a reason to break out the wine, set up a band, and celebrate. [Because] this time [Shimon Peres] has hit the nail on the head [when he said on Thursday], ‘The agreement will prevent creation of a Palestinian state.’ …

[Netanyahu’s] Bar Ilan 2 speech, to be recited before a full house of Senators and Congressmen in Washington in a few weeks, [had been] just about finished, [including] concession after concession, abandonment of more land to our enemies, relinquishment of additional security precautions, a ‘Palestinian state’ in temporary borders, perhaps even with a taste of Jerusalem for dessert. It was all set. And now – what bombshell can he initiate? Not a one. At least, certainly not in the direction he planned…

The conflict between Hamas and Fatah [never had] anything to do with ideology. Both agree that the State of Israel is an insufferable thorn in the collective throats of the Arabs that must be plucked out of existence at the first opportunity. Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] certainly hasn’t changed his life’s philosophy, which he expressed while planning the 1974 Ma’alot massacre and funding the 1972 Olympic terror killings in Germany…

Bibi already announced his acceptance of a Palestinian state. But what can he do now? Every rocket now shot into Israel, at Sderot, Ashkelon or Tel Aviv, has not one signature on it, but rather two: Ismail Haniyeh [Hamas] and Abu Mazen [Fatah]. Gilad Shalit [was] a captive of Hamas-Fatah. Every attempted terror attack initiated from Gaza is rubber-stamped: Fatah-Hamas…

Just as G-d hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so too, today, He is throwing dust into the eyes of our enemies, blinding them, dulling their senses, and leading them down a dead-end road – leading, not to Israel’s destruction, rather to their own obliteration. This does not mean, under any circumstances, that we will have an easy time of it. Far from it. Dead end roads aren’t necessarily short, and they can be quite bumpy. But the chances of another Arab state on our eastern border, created with Israel’s blessings, have hit the lowest level they’ve been at in years.

It won’t be easy, but we will prevent creation of a Palestinian state. G-d is watching over us. G-d is protecting us, even from ourselves. Thank G-d!

Nachi Eyal, Head of the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel:
The murder of an innocent person praying at Joseph’s Tomb proves that the world cannot allow a Palestinian state. A people whose policemen are murderers cannot join the family of nations. The Forum expects the government of Israel to have its UN ambassador issue a formal complaint to the United Nations, as the murder of a person at prayer is considered a war crime.

Is Israel surrendering her sovereignty?

Is Israel surrendering her sovereignty?

Let’s start with one of the beginnings, which was to remove Israel’s Sovereignty. Some will remember the Oslo Accords, which Shimon Peres and Yossi Beilin created when they met secretly with Yassir Arafat and the Norwegians in Oslo. Their meetings were kept secret because — as Yossi Beilin revealed at an International Conference for the Winston Institute for the Study of Prejudice — they “didn’t want to make it public because the Israeli people would have stopped us”. “Us” was Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Yossi Beilin. Their plan was to advance “the plan” far enough so that when it was finally made public, the Israeli Knesset would have to ratify it because the U.S. and the E.U. were behind it and they had no choice.

As planned, it reluctantly passed as the infamous Oslo Plan which turned out to be a disaster for the Israeli people — we were cornered as planned by Peres and Beilin with the State Department playing its usual role as “spoiler”.

Recall that “the plan” offered, or rather imposed, by President George W. Bush was called the “Road Map”. This proclamation was issued as if President Bush was an imperial king, and Israel was a vassal state owned and subservient to whatever royal commands issued forth from Washington. Israel was treated like Puerto Rico or Hawaii or a de facto protectorate of the U.S., by a presidential team dedicated to appeasing Arab oil nations.

Some will recall President George Herbert Walker Bush’s Secretary of State, James Baker III, with his team of Court Jews: Dennis Ross, Aaron David Miller and Daniel Kurtzer. They were the point men in evolving plans on how to force Israel into compliance. Ross, Miller and Kurtzer were called Baker’s “Jew Boys”.

That same “advisory group” continued under Bush Senior’s son, George W. There were always others who ran the “Shadow Government,” who were closely tied to Saudi Arabia and the Oil Gulf States. Keep in mind that most of these same people seem to have a permanent home on the Presidential Advisory Group — no matter who the president happens to be.

You might be asking yourself what nation would accept dangerous marching orders from another nation — unless they were either conquered, or that nation at its highest levels of leadership were deeply in collusion and accepted the marching orders called “The Road Map.”

That was more or less past history except for the repeated track record that was developing, called “re-partitioning”. First, there was the under-the-table Oslo affair. Then there was the “arrangement” for “The Road Map” and Washington’s recruitment of the once great defender of Israel, the warrior Ariel Sharon, who followed instructions to abandon Gush Katif/Gaza with Ehud Olmert completing the betrayal.

We frequently hear President Barack Hussein Obama’s administration complain that’s what is going wrong is all the Bush family’s fault. Recall that Obama has pretty much the same anti-Israel advisors that Bush senior and Bush Jr. had: Ross, Miller, Kurtzer, and later Martin Indyk, Baker III, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Brent Scowcroft and a host of dedicated Arabists who needed Israel to capitulate from the inside, in order to appease the Arabs and expand their oil interests. All of the above deny any hostility toward the Jewish State of Israel, and they assure us that what they are doing is an effort for “Peace” and that it’s good for the Jewish State.

Of course, personal biases were involved in a complexity of ethnic hostilities well-known in Washington, from the U.S. State Department and the Israeli Leftists who were anxious to divest large tracts of the Jew’s ancient Biblical heartland to the Arabs. That side of the equation would include, but not be limited to: Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Yossi Beilin, Ehud Barak, Arik Sharon, Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni among others.

Now, Barack Hussein Obama replicates these prior plans, that of “diktats” out of the Oval Office, which mandate that Israel must obey his commands, for the good of all — other than Israel. We are already familiar with Obama’s “diktats” to Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu to cease/freeze all construction in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. He included Jerusalem, but temporarily backed off when there were signs of strong resistance from Netanyahu’s Likud Party. But, now we understand that Obama and his team will issue something like the Bush “Road Map.”

Clearly, Obama has become, or always was, an adversary of the Jewish Nation/State — in deference (or submission) to Islam (Islam means submission).  President Obama is pressing for America to separate from Israel.

Doubtlessly, radical Islamists already in America, courtesy of the U.S. State Department, can receive their orders to start synchronizing terror attacks across our nation, while Obama insists that Israel cease her valiant fight against terror.

Obama’s expected “White Paper” does not have a name yet, but be assured, Obama’s Court Jews will think of something catchy and false. Here I refer to Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, and of course, Baker’s original “Jew-Boys” especially Dennis Ross who is accompanying George Mitchell on his Mid-East Peace marathon. It may be assumed that Netanyahu and Ehud Barak complete the circle of players — just as their predecessors accepted their role as under-the-table collaborators.

We must also assume that Obama’s proclamation, like “The Road Map”, will include the forced evacuation of 300,000 Jewish men, women and children from Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights, as well as all those parts of Jerusalem (north, east and south), that Jordan illegally occupied and desecrated for 19 years from 1948 to 1967. Obama’s “diktat” to Israel will mandate a retreat to the 1948 Armistice Lines, giving up water rights under the Judean/Samarian Hills and the Golan which comprises more than 2/3rds of Israel’s fresh water.

Building a terrorist nation is the same appeasement tried by the World’s nations when they surrendered the Sudetenland to Adolph Hitler, hoping to appease him and halt his expansion across Europe.

The next follow-on move of betrayal would be to introduce an occupying foreign force, called “Peacekeepers” to assist the establishment of an Islamic terrorist state.

The idée fixe is to have such orders come from Washington and command obedience from the Knesset, in any subsequent vote asked for by Netanyahu. In Chicago that’s called a set-up or a “fix”. I guess it’s called something else in Washington and in Obama’s office.

The same scam has been repeated many times as I outlined before. Of course, other players are in on the scam of re-partitioning Israel into easily conquerable pieces: the U.N., the E.U., Russia, and the U.S. with Obama as coordinator, as well as England and France as co-conspirators. An alive and thriving Israel upsets the Arab Muslims because they couldn’t conquer her. They now insist that Israel must be conquered by American “diktats” and so-called “diplomacy”. The diplomacy part is recruiting Israeli Leftist leaders through threats, bribes and blackmail. The nations of the world (and especially American Arabists), insist on treason by their mostly willing Israeli Leftist recruits.

We await Obama’s White Paper, instructing Israel to break up her land and intimidate Israel’s people — while abandoning her sovereignty. Obama is playing the role of “Pharaoh”, and you know what happened to him and Egypt…

One more thought, “Why is Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu attaching Israel’s future, even her existence and sovereignty, to the dimming star of a failing president?”

Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria

The battle lines are drawn for Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, without which, the security of Israel is at extreme risk.  Israel cannot defend Jerusalem if she decides to surrender Judea and Samaria as a territorial sacrifice for the ‘sake of peace’.  The Arab/Muslim world, supported by the Soviets, Muslim (non-Arab) countries, non-aligned nations, Europe, Japan and Africa (for the sake of oil), and the Vatican will continue to press Israel to give up sovereignty of Jerusalem, if Judea and Samaria follow the precedent of Sinai.

We will not permit the loss of Jerusalem, or Judea and Samaria, as that loss is implied by the linkage interpretation of the Camp David Agreements, and the Reagan Plan [plus every other ‘Plan’ that has since followed].  Giving up under U.S. pressure would not only make Israel’s defense impossible, it would also break the morale of Israel’s population.  Then Israel’s fate could well become that of the Lebanese Christians.  The Arabs will not mind, but American Jews should.

Many frontier Zionist pioneers in Judea and Samaria left their comfortable homes in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, New York, Chicago and other countries to create pioneering facts intended to keep a Jewish presence in the Land of our Heritage.  If there is to be true peace, there is no reason for this part of our Land to be “Judenrein”.  If there is no true peace, then it would be national suicide for our children [and our children’s children] to be obliged to defend Israel along truncated borders.

Israel is continually urged by the world to freeze these pioneer outposts…to make room for a Palestinian, radical, irredentists ‘homeland’. This ‘homeland’ intends to make East or ‘Arab’ Jerusalem its capital.  The United Nations considers 60% of Jerusalem to be part of the West Bank.

What is East or ‘Arab’ Jerusalem?  All the Land Jordan occupied [illegally] in 1948?  Including the Jewish Quarter where every single Jewish synagogue was destroyed by the Jordanians?  Our ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives?  Mt. Scopus where Hadassah Hospital and Hebrew University were cut off after the massacre by the Muslim of 77 Jewish doctors and nurses?  The Western Wall of the Jewish Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, where access was denied to Jews from 1948 to 1967, contrary to international agreements and guarantees [and is still challenged today]?

Does the United States recognize Arab/Muslim sovereignty over the parts of Jerusalem which Jordan captured during the 1948 War?  Only Pakistan and Britain recognized Jordanian sovereignty over any part of Western Palestine.  No other nations, including the United States, ever did.

The Bible is filled with prophecies of the Jews’ return to Jerusalem.  In the 2,700 years since the two destructions and dispersals, Jews have prayed daily for their return to Jerusalem.  Zionism is Zion.  Zion is Jerusalem.  Jerusalem is Israel.  We have peace in Jerusalem now that the Eternal Golden City is united.  All faiths now worship in freedom.  All holy places are protected.  Jerusalem has been the physical and spiritual capital of the Jewish people for more than 4,000 years.  There has always been a strong Jewish presence, except when forcibly kept out, and a continuous Jewish presence since 1267.  Jews have been the majority of the population in Jerusalem since 1850.

American Jews voted for Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan on faith, in part, because they both promised to uphold the Democratic and Republican Parties’ platforms by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital, and moving the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.  Now, to our dismay, President Reagan, in his September 1982 “Peace Plan” which he keeps reiterating, has promoted a policy of pressuring Israel into surrendering vital territory to appease the Arab/Muslims.  At the same time, enemies of Israel are being shipped the most advanced American weaponry that even American NATO allies have not yet received.  Again, we are being deceived and Israel’s survival is at risk.  [Nothing has changed since 1984, except if may have gotten worse!]

The pressure of successive American administrations on Israel is, to no small extent, our own fault.  American Jews have permitted our Presidents to endanger Israel’s security.  They may have argued:  “You don’t have to agree with our reasoning; you are free to cause another war by not doing so; you will ultimately be responsible for killing your own young men, but don’t depend upon future American support, air or arms.”  We may not know what really occurs in talks between the U.S. and Israel.   However, the attitudes of our American governments are our responsibility, insofar as they are formed upon the dominant public opinion as molded by and in the Media.

We have empowered our Government to develop such manipulative techniques as attested to in the memoirs of the Camp David negotiations.  By our silence and passivity, we encouraged Carter’s pursuit of pro-Arab/Muslim State Department policies.  [To this day!]  Our failure to act has been compounded by the divisions in our local Jewish communities and our lack of political foresight and understanding.   Israel shouldn’t have been put in a position where she is forced to mortgage her economic future by relinquishing territory, oil and strategic defenses for a cold peace.  Similarly, when then Sec. of Defense Caspar Weinberger instituted confrontational policies and undermined Israeli actions in Lebanon, we should have raised louder voices.

Leadership in the Jewish community has been developed to meet the urgent needs of fundraising to provide essential community services.  These leaders may, or may not, be the best leaders for political action, especially if they are cautious to avoid conflict with American administrations who institute their policies against the best interests of Israel and the survival of the Jewish people.

However, since the perception of the community as a whole, is that the job is being done, it is difficult or impossible for new leaders, with political or public relations experience to play a meaningful role.  The job of political public relations (Hasbara) for Israel is not being adequately pursued by Jewish leadership in America.  Israel does not have the necessary budget to engage in such a vital undertaking.  Israel is now [in 1984 and still today] asking the Diaspora communities to assume direct responsibility for Hasbara but, we have not yet begun to tackle this job.

The American Media make mayhem of misunderstanding.  In the midst of Israel’s tremendous sacrifice of the Sinai Desert for peace, the Media (perhaps briefed judiciously by the U.S. State Department) immediately began an attack, which has not [to today] lessened, upon Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem by the techniques of linkage plus a false interpretation of the Camp David Accords.

It should be painfully clear to all Jews in the Diaspora, that the job of Hasbara is ours and ours alone.  We may never match the millions of petrodollars poured into Arab/Muslim propaganda but, nothing can match the zeal of turned-on Jews, ready to defend the survival of Israel.

Judea and Samaria are Israel’s key to survival.  Jerusalem is our soul; Israel is our heart and upon Israel’s survival depends our own.

ETERNAL JERUSALEM Originally Published: March 16, 1997

The following article: ETERNAL JERUSALEM was published March 16, 1997 – number 2 in our re-publishing of many of our articles defending Jerusalem as the Eternal, Golden Capital of the Jewish People given by G-d in perpetuity.

Jews – Christians – Muslims. Each claims a special proprietary relationship with Jerusalem. But the contest over Jerusalem is merely a microcosm of the centuries old competition that is endemic to the Middle East and underlies much of today’s conflict. Each challenging order submits their claim as if it supersedes that of all others, insisting conquest justifies their demand which of course, it doesn’t. The reader must understand that this region of the world breeds feuds that can last hundreds of not thousands of years.

Does it matter who claims Jerusalem as long as its true owners once again have full possession? The Jews are living in Jerusalem under an Israeli government, with their own laws, once again controlling their own destiny. Unlike any other city in the region, anyone may worship whatever G-D they are disposed to follow…or not worship at all. Like any city in America, you must merely obey the law, pay your taxes and you are pretty much free to do as you please.

However, there is a challenge hanging over the city which comes primarily from two old and dedicated enemies of the Jews. The challenge comes in two parts but they are ostensibly bound into one. The Muslims representing Arab nations, Arab Palestinians and Islam say that Jerusalem is their third holiest city and therefore they have a right to half (if not all) as their capitol. The Vatican demands that Jerusalem be “internationalized” because three religions have a vital interest in the city and all must be free to worship there.

This last position is somewhat strange since historical records illustrate that when the city of Jerusalem was in the hands of either Islam or Christianity, both denied each other freedom of worship and both denied the Jews that right. It was only recently when the Jews again had control of the city that all religions were free to worship as they wished at the sites each consider holy. Both have used their economic power and vast numbers to press the nations of the world into their camp.

You, the reader should be interested in the veracity of these claims. Let us review the history which led up to today’s claims on Jerusalem:
In 1916 the British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, a Welsh Liberal appreciated liberating oppressed peoples from the rotting Ottoman Empire. He also found emotionally appealing the Zionist dream of restoring Jews to their ancient homeland. In 1917 he assisted in the British declaration of intent, the Balfour Declaration to establish a “National Homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine.” In 1918 the British and French liberated the region from 500 years of Turkish rule under the Ottoman Empire.

In 1919 Emir Faisal and Chaim Weizmann signed an agreement welcoming the return of the Jews to their “Homeland” in exchange for Jewish assistance to the Arabs at the Versailles Conference of 1919 and after, to get recognition for the newly created “Arab homelands”. The Versailles Treaty arbitrarily established the boundaries of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, the Persian Gulf States, now 5.5 million square miles.

The League of Nations ratified the Balfour Declaration in 1920 at an international Conference in San Remo, Italy.  That San Remo Treaty has NEVER BEEN ABROGATED. It was also ratified by a U.S. Joint Congressional Resolution of 1922.

Emir Faisal had been named King of Syria, but when the French took over the mandate for Syria, they ejected Faisal. The British then named Faisal King of Iraq. To further placate the Arabs, then Colonial Secretary Winston Churchill cut away 76.5% of Palestine, 35,000 square
miles – creating a brand new Arab entity, Trans-Jordan, and installed Faisal’s brother, a Hashemite from Saudi Arabia, Abdullah, as Emir.

The British continued to hold the Palestinian Mandate over the land west of the Jordan (approximately 23% of the original Mandate) until 1947 when the United Nations partitioned this land between the Jews and the Arabs. The Jews accepted the partition; the Arab nations refused. Upon the formal announcement that Israel had proclaimed itself a nation, trained armies from seven Arab countries attacked the fledgling Jewish State proclaiming a war of total elimination for the glory of Islam.

Miraculously the Jews won.

However, the final cease fire left the Jordanians in control of the two territories of Judea and Samaria which they renamed the West Bank. Jordan was now also in control of the North, East and South sectors of Jerusalem, including the Old City with the Temple Mount and Western Wall. The Jews won control over the western enclave of Jerusalem. With the exception of Great Britain and Pakistan, all the other nations, including the Arab countries, refused to recognize Jordan’s conquest and sovereignty. Jordan held most of Jerusalem and its holy sites for 19 years, until Egypt and Syria moved against Israel in May 1967. The Israelis countered with a pre-emptive air strike. Israel warned the Jordanians to stay out of the war but King Hussein, misled by erroneous Egyptian proclamations of great victory, sent in his troops. The result: the Israelis defeated all the Arab armies liberating the rest of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, Gaza and the Golan Heights.

During those 19 years that the Jordanian Muslims were in control, neither they nor any other Arab nations made the claim that Jerusalem was Islam’s third holiest city. Consistent with the neglect of centuries past, few, if any, Muslim religious leaders sojourned from Amman, Jordan to Jerusalem. In fact, there were no recorded visits of religious leaders coming from Mecca, Medinah, Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, etc., to pay homage to what they now claim is the third holiest city of Islam. Jerusalem simply was not on the list of cities a True (Muslim) Believer was required to visit. When on a journey elsewhere and if a Muslim visited Jerusalem it was called a ‘ziara’ or visit and a Muslim accrued no special honor. Whereas when a Muslim, set out to visit Mecca it was called a ‘haj’ or holy pilgrimage, gaining a great honor for one’s afterlife and the title ‘Haj” added to one’s name. To the Jordanians and the rest of Islam, Jerusalem was not a required place to visit or to hold in holy veneration.

The Jordanians, while in control of Jerusalem, made no attempt to maintain the city. Streets were often merely open sewers – refuse piled up against its ancient walls. The holy sites of Christians and Jews were desecrated. While the Jordanians were somewhat restrained in their actions against the Church due to the powerful influence of Christianity in the free world, the Jews had no such protection. Fifty-eight synagogues were destroyed – often turned into stables. The headstones from Jewish cemeteries were used as splash plates in urinals for Jordanian soldiers and to pave roads. A mosque was built over the graves. Later, when the Jews freed the city those headstones were recovered and replaced in the cemeteries as best as they could.
While this desecration was well-known to the Christian world and all the western nations, none protested. Jerusalem was again being ravaged and no one cared – except the Jews.

Only after 1967 did the Arab strategists declare Jerusalem Islam’s third holiest city. This fabrication was quickly accepted in the Christian West which had by then firmly grasped the profitable handles of appeasement. Whether as individual nations or through the U.N., the Arabs could do no wrong. The opportunity to receive oil or sell arms made the civilized world one vast whorehouse of acquiescence. Complying with the idea that Jerusalem was part of the baggage of Islam was a small request, particularly when compared with the U.N. genuflecting toward the oil of Saudi Arabia that had preceded this. The revisionists of Arab history began in earnest as they hurriedly constructed a lengthy history for the indigenous Arab population, renamed Palestinians.

As a relevant aside, I was amused as the valiant Peter Arnett of CNN broadcast on January 26, l99l that he was in Najeb, Iraq covering bomb damage in what the Iraqi religious leaders claimed was the “Third holiest city after Mecca and Medina” and very likely a most accurate claim.

The city of Jerusalem was for the Jews the mystical place of G-D’s presence on earth. It was for the Jews the only Capitol they would ever have or want. While other religions chose other cities for their capitols, i.e. Rome, Mecca, etc. for their 2000 years of exile, the Jews thought only of Jerusalem as the city of their soul. Clearly, the linkage called Jerusalem.

Perhaps it was this mystical attraction for the Jews that drew others to try and capture its elusive spirit. Located in rugged terrain, with no lure of valuable minerals (gold or precious stones), Jerusalem was never a likely crossroad for significant commerce. But, they all came to conquer and wrest the city from the Jews: Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Franks, Saracens, Turks, Christians crusading in the name of Jesus; Muslims carrying the flag of Islam. All came; all slaughtered each other; and all slaughtered the Jews in the name of their gods or quest. Jerusalem was their booty as they carried the earthly riches of the Hebrew Temple back to their respective cities. One cannot forget the monument to Titus engraved with a mighty procession of captured Jewish slaves carrying the gold Menorah and other Temple objects to honor the victorious emperor of Rome. Conquering Jerusalem was a symbol of earthly power and the presumption that their gods had blessed them.

Jerusalem, while it has numerous places of worship such as Al Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, etc., their presence as holy sites is linked only to their individual buildings dedicated to a specific worship. The concept that Jerusalem, the city, also belongs to them is a spurious claim not supported by fact or history.

In times past, one implored the gods to assist in all sorts of matters, including the provision of a life after death. Gods were entreated with all sorts of blandishments i.e. human sacrifice, starvation, large opulent buildings, whipping one’s body, singing and dancing in erotic ceremonials. Conquerors occasionally ate their enemies to absorb their earthly power and that of their gods.

And then G-D came to the Hebrews with a promise which cast doubt on the idol worship of man. The Hebrews accepted One G-D which, in effect, denied the existence of all other deities.

This G-d was invisible and all one had to do was to follow His Commandments and 613 Injunctions (“mitzvot” or good deeds) and it was perceived you received the guarantee that mankind had always been seeking, namely a life after death. Instead of accepting the One G-D and joining the Jews, there followed a great scrambling to enjoy the fruits the new G-D offered – but not to join the Jews and their tedious rules for living. Each wanted their own religious pathway directly to the ear of G-D and the Jews were perceived as merely standing in the way. An on-going effort continues to this day, wherein the Jews were defined as demons and therefore unworthy of G-D’s Grace and the Divine Covenant.

As the armies swept up and back across the land, soaking it in blood, they could not quite grasp the elusive thing they were truly after. Although they conquered the land and all had their turn to extract from Jerusalem everything that could be taken, they could not take what the Jews had been given by G-d, namely Jerusalem’s Holy Spirit.

“I am the Lord, thy G-D and you are My people.” G-D made a Covenant with the Jewish people which He has never withdrawn. Other challenging religions have said, you Jews have broken your agreement with G-D and we are the rightful heirs of the Covenant. This was followed by campaigns to elevate and separate their religions by casting the Jews as demons and thereby slaughter them with no concern for conscience. This pursuit of the Jew goes on to this very day. The demonology taught by Christianity and Islam is so deeply rooted it almost no longer needs to be taught, as it permeates each coming generation. The concept of “Jew-Hatred” or anti-Semitism was born in this crucible.

What is found as we look back in history, is a tangle of invasions wherein numerous religions, countries or superpowers such as Rome, captured Jerusalem. Often, if the ever-present Jew was  not slaughtered, he was pressed to join one or another religion. Presumably this extraordinary heritage of the Jew wherein G-D Almighty conferred His Grace through His Covenant on the Jewish people, could then be grafted onto another religion. Whether for the gods of Rome, Greece, the religions of Christianity or Islam, – if the Jew accepted the linkage of submission to another religion, this would prove the claim that the new religion was the last and only, because it now owned the direct Word of G-D. The Jews, however, never accepted other religions and were hated for this obstinacy and presumed withholding of that most precious commodity… immortality.

Christianity and Islam each put themselves forward as the more deserving religion and therefore the rightful heirs to be The Chosen people. This did not bode well for the Jews as they were pursued through the centuries with all sorts of devised cruelty, pogroms, to finally peak with a great slaughter called the Holocaust – which sadly did not yet end the pursuit.

What does all this have to do with Jerusalem? G-d designated “His Place” as Jerusalem and “His Home to be built on Har Moriah – now called Har HaBayit for G-d’s House that he ordered built there.

Simply – whatever the Jews considered valuable or spiritual, that was sufficient to make it a prize of war. Its competitors driven by religious fervor and seeking their “rightful inheritance”, believed capturing Jerusalem would convey the mystical authority each sought. Subduing one’s enemy did demonstrate certain earthly and presumably religious facts. By capturing and holding Jerusalem, the conquerors were assured they were the righteous heirs until the next conquerors ‘proved’ they were. Each would build an edifice of his religion usually directly over or near the site of the ancient Jewish Holy of Holies presently called the Temple Mount. Such religious structures were a symbolic statement to all challengers to be forewarned that it was their specific religion who controlled and was clearly blessed by G-D.

Jerusalem was the City of King David 3000 years ago. In 960 BCE King Solomon built the First Temple whose gigantic 70 ton foundation stones gave testimony to the intention of the G-D of the Jews. Jerusalem was steeped in the history of the Jews and it would be impossible to
expunge its Jewish essence, although many tried.  The First Temple was destroyed in 3338 Jewish Year. The Second Temple was built in 3408 Jewish Year in the Jewish Year/353 BCE.

In 70 CE the Romans burned the Second Temple, salted the earth so nothing would grow, exiled the Jews and renamed Jerusalem “Aeola Capitolina” and renamed the Land of Israel “Palestina” to purge the land of any Jewish presence.

In 344 CE Emperor Constantine declared himself Master of Palestine, had the Roman temple of Venus destroyed and built the Church of the Holy Sepulcher very near the Temple Mount to challenge its mystical power.

It is illogical that the Koran, the most holy book for true believers of Islam, is dealt with so casually by those who would make false claims in the name of Islam and Mohammed. The Koran is quite clear in what it says and what it doesn’t say. It speaks directly of the obligations for true believers, instructing them to pray towards Mecca five times a day. But just as clear is the ABSENCE of the word Jerusalem. Not once does the Koran mention Jerusalem nor are there any instructions to even pray in its direction nor to visit. Surely Mohammed knew what he was doing when he deliberately absented Jerusalem from his teachings. Compare that to the Hebrew Bible wherein Jerusalem is mentioned in creatively loving terms of endearment 667 times.

It was not because Mohammed was unaware of the Jews and Jerusalem. In 610 CE he had first approached the Jews offering to be their leader as the last prophet of G-d. For 19 years he instructed his followers to direct their ‘quibla’ prayers toward Jerusalem as though to sway the Jews to his teachings. But when the Jews refused to abandon their faith, he slaughtered the Jews of Mecca and Yathrib (later called Medina) and directed his followers to re-direct their ‘quibla’ towards Mecca. Jerusalem was never again venerated in prayer by Muslims. It was logical for Mohammed to adopt a city unfettered with the ancient history that Jerusalem had for the Jews. Although the Jews had lived in Mecca for centuries before Mohammed, it did not have the deep history that Jerusalem had for the Jews. Mohammed died in 632 CE.

In 683 CE Caliph Al-Walted built Al Aksa Mosque over a Christian church located on the Temple Mount. In 685-705 CE the Umayyad Caliph Abd-el Malik built the Dome of the Rock…also on the Temple Mount. This Caliph, who lived in Damascus, attempted to re-direct the Islamic compass away from Mecca towards Jerusalem and his sphere of religious/political power. The political thrust of all this was that Islam continued to ignore Jerusalem as a non-entity and worshiped toward Mecca.

The Christian Crusaders in their war against both Muslims and Jews, conquered Jerusalem in 1099 CE. On the Temple Mount’s northeast corner they built the Church of the Repose. At first the King’s Court had their residence in Al Aksa Mosque until the area was given to the Christian Knights Templar in 1100. The Knights Templar used the al-Aqsa Mosque as a training building for sword play. In the Dome of the Rock they placed a Baptistery called “The Lord’s Temple”. Again symbols of victory over the vanquished took the form of religious structures to announce in brick and mortar whose god carried them to victory.

Whether it was the Christians conquering Jerusalem or Saladin (Salah-a-Din) re-capturing the city in the name of Islam in 1189 CE, Jerusalem was a prize of war and a powerful symbol of victory over hated enemies. When Saladin, a Muslim Kurd, gathered the nomadic Arab tribes into a cohesive fighting force and drove the Christians from the land, it was the first and last time the Arabs gathered into a unit and is a mainstay of Islamic legend and heroic deeds.

In 1200 CE, after that great victory and while under Muslim rule, Jerusalem was never declared the capitol of the Muslim entity. Ramle was chosen as the capitol of the region.  Jerusalem was held in such low esteem that in 1249, the Muslim Sultan el Kamil readily gave Jerusalem away as a gift to the holy Roman Emperor, Frederick II for forming an alliance against the competing Muslim ruler el Malik. The Sultan remarked, “I have ceded nothing but churches and houses in ruins.” Frederick II was subsequently excommunicated by the Pope for making a treaty with a Muslim, since earthly sovereignty over Jerusalem was of no interest to the Church. In short, the Muslims believed they gave away nothing and the Christians believed they received nothing.

There were many indicators over the centuries that Jerusalem was not a focal point of the numerous civilizations that captured her as a prize. While Europe was immersed in the Dark Ages, 1000 years ago, Islam was enjoying the Golden Age of the Abbasid (Arab) Caliphs. They expanded and brought art, literature to Cordoba, Granada with magnificent edifices built in Damascus, Baghdad, and Cairo – all to the grandeur of Islam. The city the Muslims now claim as their third most holy site was left to decay and become an extension of the desert. Jerusalem remained neglected both under Christian and Islamic domination. The hundreds of attacks against Jerusalem in the name of one god or another still go on.

Jerusalem was attacked in the ghettos of Poland, in the sweep of Germany across Europe. Even then the Axis and Allies although bitter enemies, agreed that Jerusalem (read Jews) will not rise. On the Axis side, Jews had nowhere to hide except the crematoriums. The Allies decided NOT to rescue the Jewish refugees or bomb the rail lines to the camps. The OSS knew that a live Jew being transported to a camp tied up rail equipment which could otherwise carry German soldiers and supplies to the front. Indeed, the battle for Jerusalem takes place in many forms and places. By the end of WWII, Islam was aligned with the Nazis and the Vatican assisted Nazi war criminals to escape.

The Jews dreamed and prayed to once again be sovereign in their own land with its Capitol Jerusalem, their enemies continued to capture and recapture the city…denying the Jews their dream.   Nevertheless the Jews kept trekking through history to the consternation of their foes.

While there has always been a Jewish presence in Jerusalem, and a demographic Jewish majority since 1840, the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 was the catalyst for resurgence in population.  With Jerusalem and the borders of Israel titled to the Jews by G-d according to His Torah, repossession becomes the psycho-religious equivalent of: “Whoever possesses the land, possesses the deed of the Divine Covenant as the direct conduit to G-D.”

It is now 1991. We have looked back in time to discover that, with the exception of individual sites, neither the Christians nor the Muslims ever wanted Jerusalem – except to deny it to the Jews. Only the Jews faithfully considered Jerusalem their capitol – in perpetuity. But, the war to recapture the earthly and spiritual Jerusalem goes on.

We have been told that soon after the Gulf War ends, a gathering of the nations under United Nations auspices will take place to “settle” the Arab Israeli dispute. Given the past history of the U.N. one can anticipate that the influential Arab nations with Western nations in tow, will press for punitive measures not only to legitimize their claim on Jerusalem but also to further truncate Israel.  The present war with Iraq has re-kindled age old Arab dreams of glory through unification as in 1191 when Saladin, in the name of “jihad” for Islam, drove the Christian crusaders out of Jerusalem and the entire region. While the visceral religious hate for the West remains, as frequently displayed in angry street demonstrations, nonetheless the Islamic nations with their leverage of oil can demand and receive appeasement from the Christian West. On the matter of Jerusalem, old enemies can be expected to join forces or, as often said in this region: “my enemies’ enemy is my friend”.

To further complicate matters, we find in today’s conflict that, in order to line up political support from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Emirates, Syria and Egypt, a promise had been made by the Bush Administration NOT to exercise a veto when Israel will be coerced into this misnamed “International Peace Conference”. Presumably, within this conference Israel will be pressed by a coalition of nations to accept Arab punitive demands, including the re-division of Jerusalem or face the righteous anger of its member nations. [Remember this was written before the 1991
Madrid Conference.]

Saddam Hussein, in a hypocritical appeal to world opinion, cited his “deep concern” for the Palestinians. Regrettably, the Arab Muslim nations who have continually refused to assist their so-called brother Palestinians, will again use them to emotionally load their claim for Jerusalem. The track record “vis a vis” the Jews of European nations such as France, Germany as well as Muslim countries leaves little hope of even the pretense of fairness in what will amount to international blackmail.

In July just before the [1991] invasion, US Ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie, who took orders from none other than Secretary of State James Baker III, gave Saddam the “green light” to invade Kuwait by saying to Saddam that we, the United States, are not interested in his border disputes! (Doesn’t that make Baker the midwife if not the father of this war?)

Before the war Arafat’s P.L.O. lieutenants were meeting with US Ambassador Pelletreau in Tunis to discuss peace…P.L.O. style. While speaking words of peace, the P.L.O. was concurrently coordinating with Saddam Hussein the invasion of Kuwait. Following Saddam’s invasion, the Palestinians assisted the incoming Iraqis identify every Kuwaiti official, mounted a guard over the Kuwaitis, and helped steal, rape and plunder Kuwait. Kuwaitis are now massacring the Palestinians in Kuwait. Perhaps that is why Saudi Arabia expelled all of their Palestinians to Jordan. Even Saudi Arabia, who had financed the PLO, their terrorist organization, could no longer stomach their lies. Remember that after Saddam invaded Kuwait, Jordan’s King Hussein and the PLO’s Arafat embraced Saddam and his cause.

Louis Salome reports for the COX NEWS SERVICE from Paris that two days before the October 8 Temple Mount ambush, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein met secretly in Jordan with King  Hussein and PLO leader Yasser Arafat to plan ways of heating up the Palestinians uprising. They sought to shift world attention from the Persian Gulf crisis to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Arafat was assigned the task of getting the 3 year Palestinian violence back to the front pages and provide alternative cover for Saddam’s brutal invasion. Hence, we again find Jerusalem on the front pages of every news journal and TV feature in the world, condemned by the U.N. for killing Muslims as they attempted to kill worshiping Jews. The day after the first Allied Coalition attack, Saddam began his almost nightly barrage of SCUD missiles against the civilians of Israel The US forced Israel to refrain from any defensive act and take the incoming bombs as the only Free World country under attack without fighting back. Israel was prepared to mount an air and commando attack to wipe out the mobile SCUD launchers in western Iraq early in the war. If given the codes to identify friendly forces, Israel might have effectively stopped the SCUDs before the immense damage done to Israel and perhaps before the direct hit on the Pennsylvanian Marines barracks that murdered 29 American Marines.

President George Bush in a speech to Congress ignored Israel’s cooperation but instead said that Israel must give up more land to the Palestinians to encourage the Islamic Arabs to speak trivial words of peace. Secretary of State Baker, who has shown his vituperative attitude towards Israel by refusing to set foot in that country for two years, now visits for 2 days with a subtle  ‘mandate’ to do as the US says. In fulfilling his promise to the Arab nations, the Palestinians Baker whom met with in Israel were pre-approved by the P.L.O.

We have looked back, we have observed today, now in closing let us look forward.

We hear the words “A New World Order” which to the uninformed brings a vision of a magnificent peace for all mankind. Instead, we see it intended as a trivial little plot merely to align the potentially strong nations of the Middle East in a cohesive linkage to trading partners and financial markets to the nations of the West. Clearly Kuwait was destined to lose and be absorbed by the powerful state of Iraq which we were building up as one of those privileged nations.

Israel, too, was slated to become a loser. We observe the machinations of Casper Weinberger in the mid ’80s with that same policy advanced by Baker in the ’90s. Israel would be allowed to live only as a nation on the leash of the United States in compliance with Arab demands and therefore a minimal irritant to the pathological hatred of the Arab nations. Israel was to be shaved down, with a Palestinian State at its center and Jerusalem was to be divided ‘de facto’ in a scheme to insure that the Jews had no control. But things do not always work out the way men plan them. The men who thought they could control Saddam found they could not. (These same men are now attempting to make a Faustian bargain with the other devil, Hafez al-Assad of Syria.)

War ensued and was strangely paralleled by the description in Jeremiah 50 and 51 which describes the war exactly. We observe 39 Scud missiles fall and miraculously destroy only property. This was paralleled by the saying in Isaiah 26:20,21 and 27 “Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut your doors behind you; withdraw for a brief while, until wrath has gone by.”

In G-d’s Covenant with the Jewish people he repeatedly stated that: “I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curse thee.” All of the great powers who have cursed the Jewish people through their cruelty have indeed eventually been brought down. It is regretful that President Bush and Secretary of State Baker have chosen to unleash their personal bias, reminiscent of the Crusaders and the more vitriolic times of Islam toward the Jews. President Bush would be a far better leader if he retired Mr. Baker and Mr. Sununu to use his momentary popularity to act the role of a great President and not merely a hustler of multi-national oil interests.

We, indeed, need a “New World Order”, but not what is envisioned by the great shakers of business and profit. Jerusalem again becomes that litmus test as we observe the Christian West and the Islamic East join forces once again to replace the Jews in their home, Israel with its golden capitol of Jerusalem, the Eternal.

Creeping Arab annexation in Jerusalem

Aaron Klein of WORLD NET DAILY reported on sections of Jerusalem that are ‘de facto’ annexed by Arab Muslims/PLO and, therefore, banned to Jews.   Even the Police are afraid to go into those areas.

Here we are reminded of such areas in France where Muslims in “critical mass” have made it dangerous for French Police to enter.

These areas in many parts of Europe have been ‘de facto’ annexed by Arab Muslims who have been migrating in and annexing by sheer force of numbers  – yet demanding social welfare from that host nation.

Under the guidance of Jewish Leftists in a number of governments, Israel has allowed creeping annexation of its diminished territory.  One can quickly think of Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Yossi Beilin in their Oslo abandonment, followed by Oslo 2, Hebron Protocol, Wye River, Sharm el-Sheikh Memo, ‘et al’ –  where such cities as Shechem (Nablus), Ram’Allah, Jenin, Bethlehem, Jericho, Tulkarem, Gaza and 80% of Hebron were gifted to the Muslim Arab PLO under Yassir Arafat for an unlikely and unrealized “peace” which only turned into dangerous enclaves for Palestinian Muslim Arab Terrorists.

We watched in unrelenting horror as Sharon and Olmert abandoned the 21 communities in Gush Katif/Gaza and 4 in Northern Samaria, uprooting 10,000 Jewish men, women and children, destroying their homes, farms, schools, factories, businesses and even their cemeteries.  After they were evicted, the Arab Muslim Palestinians destroyed their synagogues and the greenhouses which were left for them to work in.

This did not bring peace but created a firing base for Hamas to overthrow their Fatah brothers and launch 10,000 Rockets, Missiles and Mortars at the civilians in Southern Israel for the last 8 years.

This disengagement from Gush Katif/Gaza was another useless gesture of Jewish Land for peace from the Arab Muslims – which did not occur.  Even the radical Leftist Shimon Peres recently admitted that the evacuation from Gush Katif/Gaza was a mistake.

This was another useless gesture pushed by then President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as well as the Arabists in the State Department.   Like Oslo, the Gush Katif/Northern Samaria abandonment, turned into a gesture of national suicide as Hamas Palestinian Terrorists commenced their promised attack to destroy the Jewish people and the Jewish State.    They were intent on driving Israel out of Sderot, Ashkelon and all areas into which their munitions could reach.   Here again, the Leftists of Kadima – including Olmert, Barak, Livni and the whole Kadima Cabinet were compliant in creeping annexation as they refused to defend Southern Israel from eight years of assaults by Gazan Muslim Arab Palestinians.

I always thought of the Left as knowing conspirators with the aspirations of the Palestinians from Arafat through to Hezb’Allah, Hamas, and Fatah all as proxies of Iran and Syria.

Those of the Leftists so-called Jewish governments were hand-maidens and enablers to the Muslim Jihadists who murdered and maimed so many Jews.   As these Jewish leaders experimented with the lives of the Jewish citizens of Israel so too do they deserve the same pain and punishment they have inflicted on the people.   Life in prison would be too little for what they have done and are still doing while they grasp the last dregs of their power before the government changes.

These soul-less leaders in the nations who are clearly in a war with G-d as are the leaders in the nations who betray Israel to Ishmaelites.   Creeping annexation of Jerusalem by the Muslims is merely one element in their war with G-d who gifted the Land of Israel to the Jewish people in perpetuity.

Even America, who once seemed the assigned protector of Israel and the Jewish people has failed its mission and brought the familiar curse upon itself.   As said in the Bible: “I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee.”    The American people are not the same as their cursed leaders but, they all will have to pay for the evil their leaders brought upon  America by their bonding with the Muslim “Jihadists” (Holy warriors for Islam) who have sworn to kill all the “infidels” (non-Muslims).

Here we find the likes of Jimmy Carter, George Herbert Walker Bush, the Clintons, George W. Bush and his venomous Condoleezza Rice.  Now we have Barack Obama and another venomous Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – out of Obama’s garden of anti-Israel creatures.  As each of these American so-called leaders planned assault after assault against the Jewish State, America was punished.  Why must the good people of America suffer what their perfidious leaders have done against Israel in deference to a people dedicated to the death blood cult of a pagan desert tribe religion?

Perhaps Americans have been cursed by a destroyed economy and more because we, the people did not drive these perfidious leaders from high office.   Regrettably, the same goes for the Jews of Israel who allowed their leaders to give away their birthright, the Land deeded to the Jewish people forever and, instead, allowed them to desecrate G-d’s Covenant with the Jewish people.

As America and the Nations of the world have brought upon themselves a terrible curse, so too have the Leftist Jews of Israel brought into the Land a curse of nations wishing to destroy G-d’s nation.

So – You don’t really believe all this stuff about G-d cursing the nations.   Most Jews and Christians also don’t believe – except for those times when they are sinking on their own Titanic.

I wonder if the rabble who were about to drown as Noah’s Ark floated away suddenly had a moment of illumination?   I wonder if the trash of Sodom and Gomorrah had their moment of illumination as the fire and brimstone rained down on them?   I wonder if the Americans and Europeans will have their moment of clarity as their nations spiral down to worthless money, drought, inner city riots for food, rampant incurable afflictions such as HIV or the super bacteria immune to our best anti-biotics (MSRA: Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus)?   Will we know that humanity failed G-d’s litmus test as they attack his messengers simply because they are Jews who brought the one G-d and His Laws into view?

Strange how all this has been forecast but, even as it is happening, we cannot believe that it is our fault and we set retribution in motion.

The Illegal Annexation of East Jerusalem As reported by the guardian.co.uk on March 7, 2009“A confidential EU report accuses the Israeli government using settlement expansion … ‘actively pursuing the illegal annexation’ of East Jerusalem.”

by Eli E. Hertz    http://www.mythsandfacts.org/                        March 8, 2009 Palestinian Arabs, supported by the EU and the U.S. have nurtured a myth that historically there were two Jerusalems – an Arab ‘East Jerusalem’ and a Jewish ‘West Jerusalem.’ This brief will attempt to reveal the ignorance of those who claim they are the keepers of international law.

Significant Authorities in International Law

The outcome of consistent Arab aggression was best described by Professor, Judge Stephen M. Schwebel, a former President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague:

“As between Israel, acting defensively in 1948 and 1967, on the one hand, and her Arab neighbors, acting aggressively in 1948 and 1967, on the other, Israel has better title in the territory of what was Palestine, including the whole of Jerusalem.” [bold/underline by author]

In conclusion of the events and the role international law may play in determining the future of Jerusalem, one should quote Judge Lauterpacht, a former judge ad hoc on the bench of the International Court of Justice:

“Israel’s governmental measures in relation to Jerusalem – both New and Old – are lawful and valid.”

Arthur Goldberg, the former U.S. Ambassador to the UN (in 1967) who helped draft UN Security Council Resolution 242, testified in regard to the omission of Jerusalem from the resolution:

I never described Jerusalem as occupied territory. Resolution 242 in no way refers to Jerusalem and this omission was deliberate.” [bold by author]

The EU & U.S. Support of the Two Jerusalems Myth

Jerusalem was never an Arab city; Jews have held a majority in Jerusalem since 1870, and ‘east-west’ is a geographic, not political designation. It is no different than claiming the eastern shore of Maryland should be a separate political entity from the rest of the state. Arab claims to Jerusalem, a Jewish city by all definitions, reflect the “what’s-mine-is-mine, what’s-yours-is-mine” mentality underlying Palestinian concepts of how to end the Arab-Israeli conflict. Jerusalem’s Jewish connection dates back more than 3,000 years. Even after the Jews lost control of the city in 70 CE, a Jewish spiritual and physical bond with Jerusalem remained unbroken, despite 2,000 years of dispersion. Given the central role Jerusalem plays throughout Jewish history; given Arabs dismal record toward the rights of Jews and Christians in a sensitive, sacred city like Jerusalem; and together with the Arabs’ horrific record of bringing carnage to the City of Peace, Israel has the historical, moral, and legal rights to control Jerusalem as its undivided capital.

                                                The Holy Places and Jerusalem

Jerusalem, it seems, is at the physical center of the Arab-Israeli conflict. In fact, two distinct issues exist: the issue of Jerusalem and the issue of the Holy Places. Sir Elihu Lauterpacht, a former judge ad hoc on the bench of the International Court of Justice and a renowned and respected scholar of international law at Cambridge University, has said:

“Not only are the two problems separate; [The Holy places and Jerusalem] they are also quite distinct in nature from one another. So far as the Holy Places are concerned, the question is for the most part one of assuring respect for the existing interests of the three religions and of providing the necessary guarantees of freedom of access, worship, and religious administration. Questions of this nature are only marginally an issue between Israel and her neighbors and their solution should not complicate the peace negotiations. “As far as the City of Jerusalem itself is concerned, the question is one of establishing an effective administration of the City which can protect the rights of the various elements of its permanent population – Christian, Arab and Jewish – and ensure the governmental stability and physical security which are essential requirements for the city of the Holy Places.”

Judge Lauterpacht wrote in 1968 about the new conditions that had arisen since 1948 with regard to the original thoughts of internationalization of Jerusalem:  “-The Arab States rejected the Partition Plan and the proposal for the internationalization of Jerusalem.-The Arab States physically opposed the implementation of the General Assembly Resolution. They sought by force of arms to expel the Jewish inhabitants of Jerusalem and to achieve sole occupation of the City.-While Jordan permitted reasonably free access to Christian Holy Places, it denied the Jews any access to the Jewish Holy Places. This was a fundamental departure from the tradition of freedom of religious worship in the Holy Land, which had evolved over centuries. It was also a clear violation of the undertaking given by Jordan in the Armistice Agreement concluded with Israel on 3rd April, 1949. -The U.N. displayed no concern over the discrimination thus practiced against persons of the Jewish faith.-The U.N. accepted as tolerable the unsupervised control of the Old City of Jerusalem by Jordanian forces – notwithstanding the fact that the presence of Jordanian forces west of the Jordan River was entirely lacking in any legal justification. On 5th June, 1967, Jordan deliberately overthrew the Armistice Agreement by attacking the Israeli-held part of Jerusalem. There was no question of this Jordanian action being a reaction to any Israeli attack. It took place notwithstanding explicit Israeli assurances, conveyed to King Hussein through the U.N. Commander, that if Jordan did not attack Israel, Israel would not attack Jordan. Although the charge of aggression is freely made against Israel in relation to the Six-Day War the fact remains that the two attempts made in the General Assembly in June-July 1967 to secure the condemnation of Israel as an aggressor failed. A clear and striking majority of the members of the U.N. voted against the proposition that Israel was an aggressor”

Today, Israel has reunited Jerusalem and provided unrestricted freedom of religion. Access of all faiths to the Holy Places in the unified City of Peace is assured. Judge, Sir Elihu Lauterpracht confirms this:

“Moslems have enjoyed, under Israeli control, the very freedom which Jews were denied during Jordanian occupation.”

Lastly, it should be noted: If UN Resolution 181 was valid today (which it is not), then so would be the provision in Part III-D that stipulates that after 10 years, the city’s international status could be subject to a referendum of all Jerusalemites regarding a change in the status of the city – a decision that today, as in the past, would have been made by the city’s decisive Jewish majority.

                                                          The UN and Jerusalem

Both the General Assembly and the Security Council have limited influence on the future of Jerusalem.   Judge Sir Lauterpacht explained in 1968:  “The General Assembly has no power of disposition over Jerusalem and no right to lay down regulations for the Holy Places. The Security Council, of course, retains its powers under Chapter VII of the Charter in relation to threats to the peace, breaches of the peace and acts of aggression, but these powers do not extend to the adoption of any general position regarding the future of Jerusalem and the Holy Places.”

Jerusalem must remain a unified capital under Israel’s exclusive sovereignty in order to protect the interests of the Jewish people and as the only guarantee that the interests of all other faiths will be protected.[Professor, Judge Schwebel served on the International Court of Justice since 1981. He was Vice-President of the Court from 1994 to 1997 and has been President from 1997 to 2000. A former Deputy Legal Adviser of the United States Department of State and Burling Professor of International Law at the School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University (Washington). Judge Schwebel opinions quoted in this paper are not derived from his position as a judge and president of the ICJ.]

Whose Jerusalem?

Whose Jerusalem?

Every nation on this planet has been accorded the unchallenged right to choose which of their cities will be their capital – except for the Jewish State of Israel.

The nations who arrogate to themselves the right to choose their own capital have told Israel that 3000 years of history is irrelevant.  Yassir Arafat (supported by oil rich Arab/Muslim nations and oil-consuming nations) has claimed Jerusalem as the capital of his future neo-state of Palestine because, he claims, Jerusalem is Islam’s third holiest city.

You may wonder, when Mohammed, the founder of Islam, rejected Jerusalem and chose Mecca, ‘Why is this claim by Muslims made now and accepted by the West?’  Mohammed never mentioned Jerusalem by name in the Koran, whereas, the Jewish Bible mentions it 667 times and three times daily in prayer facing toward Jerusalem from every part of the world.

There are several reasons: First, because the Jews miraculously reunited Jerusalem in 1967 and made her glow, therefore, now the Arabs want her.  Second, Yassir Arafat, born in Egypt, has the task of unifying a people who migrated into Palestine from all parts of the Arab world as the Jews, returning to their ancient homeland, created jobs and improved health conditions.  Drawing them under the umbrella of Jerusalem, with her ancient and illustrious history, would give the Palestinians an instant history.

The nations of the world are willing to accept this bit of historical revisionism because they believe (or at least hope) that the Arabs will be satisfied and cease their unending terrorism as a political response.

Great armies have swept through the region, bent on conquering the Land of Israel and her Capital Jerusalem.  But, they craved more than the golden stones of the City.  Then, as now, they wanted to own the mystique of the powerful invisible G-d, housed in the Temple built for Him by the Jews.  Not having the privilege to confront the Deity, each built their own shrines on the foundations of the destroyed First and Second Temples of the Jewish people, trying to absorb the power of the Jews’ invisible Holy G-d.  But, while Jerusalem was in their possession, no non-Jewish conqueror made Jerusalem their capital.

While Jordan had control over the eastern part of Jerusalem for 19 years from 1948 to 1967, no Arab leader visited the city and the Jews who lived in areas then controlled by Jordan were forced out or killed.  The King destroyed 58 synagogues in what is now called Arab east Jerusalem and used the Jewish burial monuments on the Mount of Olives as paving stones for roads through this ancient Jewish cemetery and splash plates for urinals.  The destruction and the severance of Jerusalem from the Jewish people was not merely a wanton act but one considered necessary by the Muslim clerics.

When Arafat complained that the City of Jerusalem was being Judaized, he reflected the Muslim belief that, if the Jews could be separated from their source of strength, they could be defeated…and he was right. Similarly, when the hair of Samson was shorn by the Philistines, he and the Jewish nation became weak and were easily defeated.  While we in the West consider these beliefs trivial and mere fables, nevertheless, claiming Jerusalem as Muslim has now become a tenet of their faith which is being manipulated for political reasons.

Herein lies the claim by the Arab nations that Jerusalem is their third holiest city.  The Jews have Jerusalem; she makes them powerful. The Arab armies have lost to Israel six times.  Therefore, Islam must retake the City in blood – not by treaty.  The Jews must not be allowed to have this City as their capital and Jerusalem must be made Muslim as soon as possible. They proclaim this freely and often.

Arafat has repeatedly declared since he signed Oslo September 1993 that:  “We will take the whole Land of Israel from the River (Jordan) to the Sea (Mediterranean), and Jerusalem will be the capital of that State and only that State – and whoever doesn’t like it, can go drink Gaza (or Dead) Sea water.”  His maps, stationary, official documents, soldiers’ insignias, TV station logos, children’s textbooks, etc. all show “Palestine” superimposed totally over the State of Israel.

It must be difficult for most Westerners to understand that an ancient war over who are the Chosen servants of G-d continues on in modern times.  Presently, the PC (politically correct) method of separating the Jews from Jerusalem is to demand internationalization and freedom of worship for all peoples.  Any first year theology or history student already knows that, every conqueror of Jerusalem denied freedom of worship to all others – until the Israeli Jews reclaimed Jerusalem in 1967.  They passed a law which mandates freedom of religion and access to all Temples, Shrines, Churches and Mosques.  All are welcome and delighted with their warm reception.

The same cannot be said for the Muslims who have always denied access for Jews who wish to pray at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the Tombs of the Patriarchs in Hebron and other Holy Jewish Sites.  In the Arab world at large, especially Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Libya the ‘people of the book’ (both Jews and Christians who follow the Bible) are not hospitably received or simply denied entry, but called “Dhimmis”, a second-class, tolerated people who must pay a special tax to be “protected”.

Regrettably, there are non-observant Jews with little regard for national memory who are ready to barter Jerusalem, with the unsubstantiated concept that this final concession will bring peace.  This is unlikely, since the Arabs suffer the Shame of having lost six wars to the Jews, they must reclaim their Pride through war and not a paper agreement.

The Jews returned to Jerusalem & the land of Israel forever!

The Arabs and the non-people who adopted the name “Palestinian” claim that the ancient Jewish people are usurpers and it is they, the Arab Palestinians, who are the rightful owners of the land of Israel “Eretz Yisrael”.  This spurious claim by Muslim Arabs and nothing else is the ‘root cause’ of the Arab/Israeli conflict.

Who, other than Muslims believe that the stories and claims of the Saudis and the so-called recently self-proclaimed Arab “Palestinians”.  At least the Syrians, the Iraqis and even the Egyptians have clearly identifiable lineage.  All of these nations and these people have been conquered, displaced, divided in their loyalties so many times that only an imaginative anthropologist could accurately distinguish one people from another.  At no time in recorded history has there ever been an Arab Palestinian people.  Jews were called “Palestinians” by the British during their Mandate since 1917. The Jews’ English newspaper, The Jerusalem Post was called “The Palestine Post” before 1948 – among other institutions.

However, the Jews can track their unbroken lineage back to Abraham, Moses through the Prophets and the Kings of Israel.  They can track their claim to the land back to G-d who promised it to the Jewish people and, therefore, have nothing to prove.  You remember G-d?  That’s the spirit force from which the Christians hark back through a Jewish man they call their lord and whom they believed was the son of the Hebrew G-d.  So, too the Muslims hark back to Ishmael, out of Abraham – but, it was Isaac, Abraham’s son through Sarah, who inherited what was to be the final Covenant between the Jewish Hebrew tribes and G-d.

Ishmael became a pagan and rejected the religion of Abraham.  There was no religion of a One G-d called “Islam” until Mohammed had his ‘vision’ and created it in the 7th century. The pagan desert tribes were mostly warriors and thieves when there was an available victim.  Any other tribe was ready prey. There was no nobility to their brethren in this desert scum.  But, they did have a panoply of gods with each tribe possessing its own set of idols.  Especially important to them was the moon god of the desert tribes called ‘Zin’ who eventually became Allah for Islam. Mohammed conquered the Arabian Peninsula and drove out the Jewish tribes, thus claiming to own the land by conquest.

In the years that followed, the terror that was Mohammed’s and Islam spread across the land by the sword like a plague.  As with all other conquerors, Jerusalem was overrun but, somehow the conquerors could only grasp the bricks and mortar of the City.  They could never conquer and take hold of the Jewish G-d, HaShem – or as pagan conquerors are wont to do, they merely added the conquered G-d to their mix of pagan gods.

Many have come to conquer Jerusalem.  Romans, Arabs, Crusaders and more but no one could take hold of the spirit of Jerusalem.  Eventually all left and their mighty empires crumbled.

Only the Jews remain connected to the Land, even when we were forcibly exiled. Then, miraculously, the Jews have returned to our ancestral homeland, the well-spring of our souls.  But, as always, our detractors claim that the Land is theirs.  Above all, they claim the Temple built by King Solomon, son of King David, at the instructions of G-d.

Like all conquerors who bring their pagan gods to prove that they are real and dominant, they built their temples over the ruins of their victims.  Sixty years after the death of Mohammed in 632 C.E., Caliph El Malik in Damascus built what today is called the Golden Dome on the Temple Mount of Solomon.

Twenty years later, El Malik’s son built what is now called Al Aksa Mosque, named after the dream/folk-tale that Mohammed had one night wherein he allegedly flew to Al Aksa (meaning the ‘farthest place’) – thought to be Allah’s Courtyards.  Later in the 12th Century, Salah-a-Din, the Muslim Kurdish warrior, anxious to justify his attack on the Christian Crusaders in Jerusalem, proclaimed that Mohammed had flown Barak, a giant winged white horse with the breasts and face of a woman and the tail of a peacock to the al Aksa Mosque built on top of the Jews Holy Temple.  (There was an al Aksa (the farthest) Mosque in Medina which is probably the source of this fanciful story.)  Not surprisingly, the pagan world was filled with flying ‘holy’ deities, including animals and most of them had wings.

Not only would Salah-a-Din defeat the Christians but, would now claim Al Aksa in Jerusalem as not merely a mosque but Islam’s third holiest site.  Capturing and building one’s temple to their gods over the Jewish Temple of the conquered was always the way of pagan tribes.  The primitives believed they could absorb the strength of their enemies, thereby demonstrating their superiority.

Today, the Jewish State of Israel is not an occupying force that has no right to the Land – as claimed by Yassir Arafat and other Arab revisionists.  Israel’s claim goes back thousands of years, before Christianity, before Islam, all the way to the Covenant of G-d promised to the Jewish people.

All those nations who were or will be, who have challenged the Judgement of G-d – have already become extinct or will sooner or later disappear.  Everyone who has tried to conquer Jerusalem has met their end and only exist in the dusty books of history.  I wonder what will happen to the Arabs of today?  How will the Europeans excuse themselves when they are so anxious to destroy the Jewish nation of Israel?  What curse will the Bush family, the operatives in the U.S. State Department and their oil allies bring upon the American people for their perfidy?  The final judgement may take time, clocked in G-d’s Own reckoning of days but, it is coming.

So, who would contest with G-d for the Land which only He owns and occasionally loans to men?  The Jewish Tribes were gifted the Land of Israel as a Holy Place for G-d’s Temple in Jerusalem where we Jews would face our G-d and listen to His instructions, His Words in His Torah.  Who would dare to now tell the Jews to leave because the Land must be gifted to pagans?

Is this the mission that President George W. Bush has taken upon himself in the name of the American people?  Or Not?  Do the Christian people wish to confront or deny the Word of the G-d from whom they believe came their salvation?  Will the American people allow their President, in their name, to attempt to cancel the Covenant that G-d made with Abraham for the Jewish people to inherit the Land of Israel?

Surely, if there is a Devil and a Hell, then they must recognized as the Islamic forces of Islam rolling across the Planet Earth like an evil plague of unremitting Terror.  Perhaps it is time that Christians who believe in G-d gather their forces to take the field next to the Jews of the Covenant.

There is a choice to be made.  Stand with the pagan armies of Islam or stand with the Jewish people of G-d.   There is no middle ground and the battle is now.  Your absence in the final war between good and evil will no doubt be noted by G-d.  Think well!

2. Who wants Jerusalem? – Everyone!
This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series The final status of Jerusalem

Jews have kept Jerusalem in their hearts and minds as their Eternal Capital for 3000 years but now many nations and groups claim her. A non-people wishes to replace Israel with a State called Palestine with Jerusalem as the capital of only that State.  Their maps show Palestine completely covering the State of Israel. These resident Arabs are only recently called Palestinians, after the name the Romans invented to obscure the Israel/Jew in Israel/Judea.  Until the State of Israel was declared in 1948, the term “Palestinian” was a pejorative used by the British for the Jews living in then Palestine and their birth certificates and passports were stamped: “Palestinian”.

The so-called Arab Palestinians are not a national peoplehood. The majority are descendants of migrant Arabs from neighboring nations.  Jewish immigration was severely limited by the British, but the Arabs moved freely into this area, growing prosperous with the brains and energy of newly immigrant Jews fleeing religious and ethnic oppression from all over the world. “From Time Immemorial: The Origins of the Arab-Jewish Conflict Over Palestine” by Joan Peters chronicles these migrations by Jews and Arabs. The Jews were happy to have a bit of land and were willing to work and live with the Arabs but the Arabs then, as now, didn’t reciprocate those feelings.  They rejected the petition and promptly attacked the Jews.  The Arab nations who had allied themselves with Hitler and lost now wanted to kill the Jewish remnant escaping from Europe.

The so-called Arab Palestinians have shown a greed for the Jews’ land and capital, Jerusalem, which is now supported by the Clinton Administration.  Their spurious claims began only since 1967 when Jerusalem was reunited by the Israelis’ victory in the 6 Days War.  Lurking behind these false claims is an ever present racist hatred for the Jewish people who refused Islamic leadership centuries ago. The Arabs have not and will not keep any agreements with the Jews from the time of Mohammed to Arafat.

Arafat frequently declares Oslo is the same as the Hudabiaya Treaty that Mohammed made with the Jews in Mecca of the Quarish tribe: that they could pray in Mecca.  Two years later, when militarily stronger, Mohammed conquered and massacred all the Jewish men, sending the women and children into slavery. President Clinton knows that history but refuses to acknowledge the reality.

What motivates these new claimants – and their supporters in the West?

Can an American President of a nation only 222 years old actually believe that his opinion matters against the 3000+ years of recorded history that Jerusalem was only the capital of the Jews?  Sooner or later we will learn why an immoral President and his State Department is so solicitous for the head of an unrepentant terror organization.

All of the nations backing those false claimants have their own capital cities – most of which were merely forests or swamps 3000 years ago.  They have freely chosen their capitals but, as in the past, these nations deny this same unalienable right to the Jews and suspend the Right of Law.  Even now radical groups in Europe and Africa wish to break away from the nation to create their own State, only to be violently suppressed by the same regimes that accept Arafat’s demands.

The Arabs always considered Mecca followed by Medina as their religious focus.  Now, they suddenly tell us that Jerusalem is their third holiest city, with public relations money gushing out globally, particularly in the West, whose minions seem willing to accept any absurd revision of history that comes from the Arabs.  Strangely, it was Mohammed who turned both his back and his prayers (quibla) away from Jerusalem because it was so imbued with Jewish essence and the fact that the Jews refused his offer of a new religion to be led by him.  Forever after Mohammed ordered his desert followers to pray to Mecca, which they do to this day.

The Christians adopted a Jewish man as their connection to the Jewish G-d but, through the centuries they murdered the Jewish descendants of the man they call the son of G-d.  Now, the Vatican joins a world class killer (Arafat) to demand that the Jews internationalize Jerusalem so all may worship freely.  Only under the Jewish law are all religions in Israel free to worship at their chosen church, mosque or synagogue in Israel and in Jerusalem.  By comparison look at the Arab nations’ policy on non-Islamic minorities. Observe their hostility to all non-Islamic religions. They say: “First the Saturday people; then the Sunday people.”  Presently, Christians in Moslem countries are being massacred and forced out of their homes – and the Church remains silent.

Throughout history Jerusalem became a focal point for conquerors seeking to prove that their army was guided by their god. They alleged that their victory over the Jews thereby proved their god was superior and the only god.  All tried to capture this seat of mystical power in order to add it to their own god-heads, thereby making them, secular and religious, stronger than any other nation.

The question of “Whose Jerusalem?” is mute, given the fact that all of her many invaders always recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and seat of G-d’s Power.  When the nations decided to attack and conquer, it was Jerusalem that was the ultimate prize.  However, no conqueror was able to capture the thing they most wanted, namely the Soul and the G-d of Jerusalem.  Their armies may have captured the bricks and mortar, the Two Holy Temples and the shrines of the other religions but, somehow, they could never capture the One G-d. Without the presence of a G-d they could see and understand, they occupied Jerusalem until the next conqueror displaced them.  Once again, an Arab would-be conqueror is clearly identifying Jerusalem as the capital he wants.

No people in the past would ever make Jerusalem their capital – except the Jews.

Each conqueror was desperate to have this elusive, invisible G-d merged into their god cult in order to rule the earth. It would have been easy to acquire the blessing of the One G-d.  They merely had to join the Jews, accept G-d’s Laws and enter His Covenant. Jews are not required to proselytize but always welcomed the Ger (stranger) provided he or she adopted and practiced G-d’s Law.

Why didn’t they merely adopt the worship of a G-d they said  they recognized as the Supreme Being as did the people G-d chose to minister to Him?   Perhaps because men wanted an easy pathway to G-d and G-d had laid down some difficult rules to live by…613 to be exact plus the 10 Commandments.  Only the Jews accepted these rules for living.

All tricks were tried to subdue Jerusalem and subdue the Jewish people.  Conquerors desecrated the Holy of Holies in the Jewish Temple by slaughtering unclean animals, especially pigs, on the Holy Altar. The Romans found a people so dedicated to their G-d and His Holy Place in Jerusalem (the Temple’s Holy of Holies) that Rome had to literally burn the Temple and City, raze the walls, poison the wells and pack the surrounding earth with salt so nothing would grow and the city would die so the Jews would have nothing to return to. Even when exiled, some Jews always remained and all those in exile prayed three times a day to return to Jerusalem.  The city slumbered until the Jews returned.

Rome of today demands a major share in Jerusalem through internationalization of the City.   Rome recognized the centrality of this city to the Jews and chose to destroy it, if they could not have it or why else would the Holy See have made a Faustian bargain with the Devil. The Vatican is even now building an embassy in Jerusalem, in anticipation of the re-division of the City.

The Americans, under Clinton, are refusing to build its Embassy in Jerusalem – even though America is mandated to do so by law.  An almost unanimous Congressional vote in November 1995 created the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act, which requires that the American Embassy be built in Jerusalem by May 31, 1999.  The land has been purchased and Congress has appropriated the funds.  If the Administration does not so build, 50% of the funding for the State Department will be cut off.  However, there is a loophole.  Clinton can declare a waiver for 6 months for whatever he considers national security reasons.

As candidate for President, Clinton wrote June 14, 1992 that “I recognize Jerusalem as an undivided city and the eternal capital of Israel.”  Why are Clinton and his human shield of Leftist Jews so mysteriously supportive of the PLO, an unreconstructed terrorist organization? They refuse to grant Israel the recognition that Jerusalem is indeed the capital of the Jews and only the Jews.  In the eyes of many, the Clinton Administration has accepted the task of appeasing the Arabs by truncating Israel so viciously as to lead to her destruction.

This reportedly corrupt President must look to his future. He would expect to receive campaign contributions for a job well-done or to be done for payment received.  Let us follow the money trail after the Clintons leave office.  Let us see who bids for their services and where the money trail leads.

Jerusalem’s claimants falsely contend they are not free to worship because the City is in the hands of the Jews.  History tells a different and ugly story.  When Jerusalem was in the hands of the Christians or Moslems, each denied the other the freedom of worship and both denied it to the ever-present Jews.  Of course, both claimants slaughtered each other in the name of their respective gods and both equally slaughtered the Jews.

Today, Muslims and Christians freely visit their shrines, mosques and churches but, for propaganda reasons, they demand a freedom of worship that the Jews have already given them.  Now, these nations supporting radical Arabs tell the Jews – ‘Jerusalem is not quite yours since a non-people have claimed it.  We will decide in final negotiations whether you can have all or part or none of your capital.’

The European Union, in lockstep with Clinton and the Arabs, issued a dictum delivered by the current EU President, the German Gerhard Schroeder, that “Jerusalem was not the territory or the capital of Israel”. President Clinton wrote to Arafat: “set a one-year target for completion to decide the ‘disposition’ of Jerusalem as well as Israel’s security and territory”. (NEW YORK TIMES 4/27/99)

Some will think these depraved leaders very brave for standing up to the G-d of the Jews and telling Him He was wrong to give Jerusalem to the Jews.  Come to think of it, wherever on this globe the Jews chose to have their capital under the authority of the Supreme One, the world’s religions would have, no doubt, contested their right of location and ownership.  The nations of Europe implemented a deadly anti-Semitism for centuries and actively assisted in fulfilling Hitler’s genocidal plans for the Jews. Be assured the West will continue their hideous blood-thirsty practice in whatever form it takes.  History shows indisputably that these nations wish the Jews dead and they want the Arabs to do the deed.

When it came to the Jews, most of the Christian and Moslem nations would have free membership in a non-exclusive club for their efforts to eliminate the Jewish people, the Jewish State and the Jewish Capital.  But, if Islam conquers Judaism, who will win when the Moslems and Christians battle to have their religions recognized Number One and having G-d’s True Covenant?

I. The final status of Jerusalem
This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series The final status of Jerusalem

The final and only status of Jerusalem was affirmed by the Highest Court 3000 years ago.  Now, in supreme arrogance and blasphemy, a corrupt President, in support of an unrepentant killer tells Israel that she must negotiate the division of that Holy City, Israel’s capital.  Interesting, two immoral men dividing up G-d’s City?!

Arafat and the Arabs found that making claims of a wildly absurd nature plays well with Clinton, the EU (European Nation) and the UN (United Nations).  Well-documented history, supported by the hard facts of archeology makes no difference to these nations and individuals who tell the Jews that everything will be all right if they abandon a small part of their Capital City, as they once again make ready to betray the gullible Jews.  Even the Bible with its extraordinary historical detail of the relationship the Jews have with Jerusalem makes no difference to this gathering of all that is evil and venal.

I am mindful of the Christian belief that a Great Evil will appear to lead all of us into a terrible period of war.  I think that this creature has already sent out its advance men to pave the way.  Never has the world seen such a broad coalition of pure evil as they ready themselves to challenge the authority of the Supreme Being.

Regrettably, Jewish leaders in Israel and America have fallen prey to the Jewish habit of being willing to talk about anything – even their own deaths.  Leaders of Israel and self-anointed dovish Jewish-American leaders’ response to Arafat/Clinton’s claims to Jerusalem are “OK. Let’s talk.”  No sane people with a shred of pride would willingly discuss partition of their Capital.

What should have been said is: “No discussions; no acceptance of advisory teams of Clinton’s jewish advisers with plans to negotiate the final status of Jerusalem.  There is nothing to discuss; nothing to negotiate.  We reject any and all claims on Jerusalem.  From this time on we will not speak of final status [or “final solution”] or any creative plans to divide the City by covering the words with political trickery so cleverly crafted by Arafat and the US State Department.”

The G-d of the Jewish people gave Jerusalem to the Jewish people in perpetuity.  Who would dare challenge the decision of the All-Seeing/All-Knowing Highest Court in the Universe?

The corrupt nations who make up the United Nations and European Union would laugh and reject without another thought if anyone dared to claim all or part of the their capitals.  But Jews, being so reasonable, intellectual and dedicated to talk-talk, are willing to discuss their own “right to live” and their own “right to their only capital: Jerusalem”.  Moreover, the Arabs, refusing to live in peace with the Jews, declared a permanent state of war and attacked in 6 wars – pledging to drive the Jews into the sea.  Jerusalem was re-taken but, not until King Hussein of Jordan razed 58 synagogue and used Jewish tombstones as splash plates for urinals.

Christians and Jews must let this President know that he will not be allowed to betray Israel in lock-step with a terrorist chief who has killed and ordered the killing of many Americans and Israelis.  Let your Congressmen and women know you expect them (including the President’s Democratic Party) that he and they are defying G-d and will suffer consequence for defying His Will.  Let them know they are shaping their own curse for the audacity of challenging His Far-Seeing Judgement.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel

Something ugly is once again growing in the “organized” Jewish community, namely, the unmanly art of “avoidance”.  The subject is the building of an American Embassy in Jerusalem as Congress mandated by law should be done by May 31, 1999.

On April 25th Jews are coming to rally in Washington to press for a positive conclusion to this sad state of political affairs between Washington and Jerusalem.  The opposition, President Clinton, Madeleine Albright, the Vatican, in addition to the Arabs, does not want Jerusalem designated as the capital of the Jewish nation.  Instead, they want Jerusalem to become some sort of internationalized city where all are supposedly free to worship.

Over the centuries, when Jerusalem was in the hands of either her Christian or Moslem conquerors, neither allowed the other freedom of worship and both denied such basic freedom to the Jews.  After 1948 the Jews codified into law the right to worship for all and Israel has assisted various religions to have absolutely unimpeded access to their shrines, churches and mosques.  The visiting Christian clergy and lay visitors give rave reviews to Israel’s care and their easy access to their holy sites.  But, not so the Muslims, although Israel has given them full access to their holy places – even over the rights of Jews to pray at their holy sites.

The German rotating head of the EU (European Union) issued a dictum telling Israel that “Jerusalem is NOT their territory or capital.”  The Europeans showed their visceral hatred by turning in their Jews to the Nazis during WWII and is again showing their deadly racism. President Clinton, closely linked to the EU, is fighting the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital by refusing to place its Embassy there, in deference to Arab Moslem claims which are almost delusional in their paucity of supporting fact.  A telling example is that the Moslem Koran never mentions Jerusalem once and the Bible mentions Jerusalem 667 times.

One very serious problem in correcting this anomaly seems to stem from our liberal Jewish organizations who are carrying avoidance to a high state of the art. When asked to join in meetings or rallies to support Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, they plead such excuses that it’s too political or refuse to inform their groups or find some other inane excuse for their absence in order not to risk confronting Clinton and Albright, et al.  They seem to fear losing their “privilege” of being invited to special White House “briefings” to rub shoulders with American royalty.  This isn’t the problem of the “Mouse that Roared” losing its voice but that the mouse cannot bring itself to even squeak.

To a few of the so-called leaders of our community: you are shirking your responsibilities to your members, to the State of Israel, to Jerusalem, the only capital the Jewish people ever had and to the Jewish people, the only people who ever made Jerusalem their capital.

My next essay will specify by name those who were contacted and either offered poor excuses for not doing their best or who refuse outright to try to persuade Congress to force Clinton and the State Department to comply with Congressional Legislation or to cut State Department funding until their embargo against Jerusalem is cured.

Jerusalem: “I hate the ground you walk on”

Jerusalem: “I hate the ground you walk on”

When Mohammed failed to convert the Jews to Islam, he ordered Moslems to turn their backs on Jerusalem and pray to Mecca. The Jewish city became a despised place for Islam. Neither Christians nor Moslems ever thought enough of Jerusalem to make it their capital../…until now.

Christianity, developed by Paul (Saul), and Islam, defined by Mohammed in the Koran in the 7th century both claimed supersedence over their Jewish root source. Both maintained that the Jews had abrogated G-d’s trust and, therefore in their opinion, did not deserve His Covenant. Both asserted that they were the rightful heirs to be G-d’s chosen and demanded the Jews disappear or merge with them. Not only did the Christians and Moslems NOT want Jerusalem as their holy city, but history demonstrates that they literally hated the very ground it stood on. This ground was steeped in holy Jewish history and could not be easily shed of its Jewishness, even through repeated conquest and murder of its Jews. David and Solomon, prophets and kings trod Jerusalem’s streets and such footprints are hard to erase.

Jerusalem was to be repeatedly captured, bound up and denigrated to obliterate the Jew’s right to the spiritual Covenant by these claimants. G-d’s judgement was to be set aside, according to the judgement of these two combatants who now demanded recognition as the (only) chosen people

Roman, Christian and Moslem Competition for Jerusalem

By 70 CE Rome had conquered Judea and Jerusalem, killed the Jews of fighting age, sold the women and children into slavery. Titus, the Roman Emperor ordered the Second Temple burned, destroyed all surroundings, and packed the soil with salt to prevent anything from growing and the return of the Jews. The state was renamed ‘Palestine’ (after the Philistines) to obliterate the Jew in Judea or the Israelite in Israel. Hadrian renamed Jerusalem ‘Aelia Capitolina’ after the defeat of Bar Kochba in 135 CE. Only the gods of Rome were to rule the ravaged land and Jerusalem’s holy status was to be no more for the Jews (the Hebrews).

In 610 CE Mohammed, based on his vision, offered his religious leadership to the Jews proclaiming he was the last prophet of G-d. For 19 months he ordered the direction of his followers’ prayers (the quibla) toward Jerusalem to woo the Jews. When they refused Mohammed’s offer, he and his army slaughtered the Jews of Medina. Mohammed used the trick of temporary truce, the Hudabaiya Treaty with the Jewish Koraish tribe, only to kill them all.

Recently, Arafat has told his people that he too was using Mohammed’s plan for the Koraish tribe as his (Arafat’s) plan for Israel. Mohammed turned the quibla of Moslem prayers to Mecca and insured that Jerusalem was not mentioned even once in the Koran. Jews speak of Jerusalem continually throughout the Bible and many times each day in prayer.

Mohammed died in 632 CE. Following Christian precedent, Moslems built a mosques and shrine on the Temple Mount, where the First and Second Jewish Temples stood, to show religious and secular superiority over the Jews. In 683 CE Caliph al Walid built an al Aqsa mosque (one of many called al Aqsa which mean ‘the farthest’) over a Christian church also built on the Jewish Temple Mount as a mark of supremacy. In 685-705 CE. Caliph Abd-Malik of Damascus built the Dome of the Rock. Malik’s plan to acquire political/religious leadership of Islam as Mohammed’s heir failed as the Moslems continued face toward Mecca to pray, rejecting Jerusalem as Mohammed mandated. It was the construction of these buildings, as a sign of conquest in the 7th century that the Palestinians now claim as their third holiest site after Mecca and Medina.

The El Buraq Myth

After Mohammed’s death, a myth was created which was rejected by serious Islamic scholars. According to this myth, one night as he slept Mohammed flew on a white horse called el Buraq which had the face and breasts of a woman, the tail of peacock and great wings to the farthest place, al Aqsa, at the edge of Medina. (Al Aqsa in Jerusalem wasn’t built until 683 CE, 51 years after the death of Mohammed in 632 CE) He leaped skyward to Seventh Heaven on el Buraq where Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses and Jesus blessed him as the last prophet of G-d. Ostensibly Mohammed absorbed the older religions of Judaism (The Root) and Christianity.

He claimed descendance from the Jewish prophets, as the foundation for the new religion of Islam. This myth of his one second night ride to al Aqsa (where el Buraq was to have left a hoof print in the rock on the Jewish Temple Mount) is the basis for current Moslem Arab claims on the Jewish Temple of Solomon and the city of Jerusalem. As in the case with most religious based myths, the story grew in the retelling, finally to become unquestioned fact.

Only since 1967 have the Moslems averred that Jerusalem was their third holiest city. The Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement in their terrorist Leaflet #65, Oct. 11, 1990, uses the el Buraq story to urge their Moslem followers to violence in order to show the West their devotion to the very place that Mohammed could not abide. In 1099 CE Christian Crusaders captured Jerusalem after surging in religious euphoria across Europe and into the Middle East, slaughtering Moslem and Jew alike.

In 1189 CE Saladin, a Moslem Kurd, captured Jerusalem from the Christian Crusaders. Earlier the Romans had used Caesarea on the Mediterranean Sea as their administrative capital of Judea; the Christians favored Acre as their regional capital and Saladin chose Ramle as his Moslem capital of the region. None found anything religiously compelling about Jerusalem.

Today, seeing the Jews return to rebuild their only Capital is an intolerable offense to those who now lay claim as the new (and only) chosen people.

In 1249 the Moslem Sultan al-Kamil thought so little of Jerusalem that he gave it away as a “gift” to the Roman Emperor, Fredrick II as thanks for an alliance against the competing Moslem ruler al-Malik. The Sultan remarked, “I have ceded nothing but ruined churches and wrecked buildings.”

Frederick was excommunicated by the reigning Pope for accepting Jerusalem, demonstrating that the Church also had no interest in an earthly Jerusalem. Islam gave away nothing it valued to the Christians and the Holy See of Christianity rejected it as a gift of no value.

ISLAM’S “THIRD HOLIEST CITY” Only Since 1967

The idea that Jerusalem was Islam’s Third Holiest City would have enraged Mohammed as blasphemous. Giving away Jerusalem to Fredrick II is a statement that this was a place which Mohammed considered impure and not holy for Islam. However, the Koran mandates that all lands conquered and later lost by Islam must be retaken. It seemed that the consistent goal of both Christians and Moslems was to be “G-d’s newly chosen” via territorial facts by capturing and occupying the city of Jerusalem. Denied the right to petition G-d directly, they tried to create facts on the ground.

In 19 years of Jordan’s illegal Moslem rule of North, East and South Jerusalem from the 1948 War, only Pakistan and Great Britain recognized Jordanian rule. Jordan vented its hatred against the Jews by desecrating 58 synagogues, turning them into stables, using headstones from the Mount of Olives Jewish cemetery for urinals, building roads and the Intercontinental Hotel over graves. (An emergency recovery of the headstones was recently mounted before the area was to be turned over to Arafat as part of Oslo.)

Jerusalem, a city so beautiful in the times of King David and King Solomon it was said to have 9 parts of the world’s 10 parts of beauty, was repeatedly left in a ruins with destroyed churches and synagogues. In recent times no condemnation was heard from the West, as each competed to convince the Arab Muslim oil owners of their fidelity by betraying the Jewish State time and again. False claims against Jerusalem by Arabs are supported by the Christian West, history and facts notwithstanding.

When the Arabs saw that the propaganda of religious claims played well in the West, they re-wrote history as fast as the revisions could be thought up. Moslem scholars created the fictitious history of a non-existent ‘Arab’ Palestinian people where, until 1948, only Jews were known as Palestinians. Before the Jews came in with jobs and health benefits, the sparse Arab population was a mix of Jordanians, Egyptians, Syrians, Iraqis, with much of the land leased to peasant farmers by Arab absentee land owners. To be called Palestinian was a pejorative, as it previously applied only to the despised Jews.

In Arabic, their own tongue, they prove the Jewish claim to the land through their superstitious habit of NOT changing the name of a city, town or village. When asked, they will point out a village with an Arabized Hebrew name and claim ancient roots where there are none. The continually flowing migration pattern was clearly demonstrated when oil became pricey and Moslems went on the move in the millions to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the other Gulf Emirates for high paying jobs.

After the Gulf War another migration began. This time the ‘new’ Palestinians were ejected from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia into Jordan as a dangerous element, a fifth column not to be trusted. So again a flood of Arabs were transferred mostly into Jordan. The present Arab claim against Jerusalem is merely the part allowed to show, for the real struggle is much deeper. While neither Christianity nor Islam can storm the heavens petitioning G-d to change His will, neither can they allow the Jewish religion to re-establish itself in Israel. A thriving Jerusalem flaws the claim that the Jews have been abandoned by G-d. The mere existence of a flourishing Jerusalem again under Jewish law and religion diminishes the claims and status of both Christianity and Islam to be the rightful heirs to G-d’s Covenant.

In 1967 Moslem clerics, the Waqf, were given control of the Temple Mount by Moshe Dayan. They built cement prayer pads over foundations of Jewish origin to separate them from the Jewish essence beneath – which they consider unholy and impure. From 1948 to 1967 few Islamic religious leaders of high status visited Jerusalem. A pilgrimage to Mecca is called a haj allowing the sojourner to put the honorific Haj before his first name. Not so Jerusalem. A visit to Jerusalem was called a ‘zira’, a place for a traveler to stop on his way to somewhere else.

September 23, 1991, Yasser Arafat, who calls himself the President of Palestine, demanded Jerusalem for a capital of a yet to be established state shown on PLO and PNC (Palestine National Council) maps to be encompassing all Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. The major TV networks interviews continually exalt this man who supported Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, calling him a “man of peace”.

September 13, 1993, immediately after signing the Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn, Yasser Arafat proclaimed, “We will have a Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital.”  He has repeated his intentions many times since in print and on television. May 10, 1994 in Johannesburg, South Africa he was secretly tape-recorded while speaking in a Moslem mosque. He declared in Arabic: “The Jihad Islamic Holy War] will continue. Jerusalem is not for the Palestinian people, it is for all the Muslim people. You are responsible for Palestine and for Jerusalem before me [applause], the land which had been blessed for the whole world. Now after this agreement you have to understand our main battle../.. Our main battle is Jerusalem. The cherished shrine of the Moslems. ../…for this I was insisting before signing [the May 4 Cairo Agreement] to have a letter from them, the Israelis, that Jerusalem../..has to be under discussion and not to say the permanent State of Israel! No! It is the permanent State of Palestine! [applause]  …/…In this letter I had insisted to mention the Christian holy sacred place before the Islamic holy sacred place because I have to be faithful to the agreement between Caliph Omar and the Patriarch Sophronius [In 638 Sophronius, the Christian bishop of Jerusalem, surrendered Jerusalem to Omar, the 2nd successor to Mohammed. A condition of that treaty was: no Jews would be allowed to live in Jerusalem! And Omar referred to the city as “Aelia” for the old Roman name of “Aelia Capitolina”]…/…./…You have to come and to fight and to start the Jihad to liberate of Jerusalem…/…I was hesitating [referring to the May 4 signing in Cairo of the Gaza/Jericho withdrawal agreement], because I was insisting to mention Jerusalem. I want this promise from the co-sponsors [U.S. Sec. of State] Christopher and [Russian Foreign Minister] Kozyrev and [Egyptian President] Mubarak. And this has been done. ../…./..This capital is not their capital. It is our capital. It is your capital. It is the first shrine of the Islam and the Moslems…/…./… Sooner or later we will pray in Jerusalem together. This agreement [the Hudabaiya Treaty] (is not) more than the agreement which had been signed between our prophet Mohammed and Koraish. [The 10 year agreement with the Koraish allowed Mohammed to pray in Mecca. When Mohammed grew stronger, two years later, he abrogated the agreement, slaughtered the Koraish and conquered Mecca.] Onward to victory, onward to Jerusalem! We will enter the mosque as they have entered it before.”

When in power, Prime Minister Rabin, Foreign Minister Peres and Deputy Foreign Minister Beilin excused Arafat’s bald statements of intent, denied secret agreements, lied about the Jerusalem letter, and have since been exposed signing away portions of the Jewish patrimony to the Arabs and to the Vatican. Yossi Beilin arranged to have Arafat fly the Palestinian flag over the Temple Mount. They have placed Jerusalem on the negotiating table for the first time ever in Oslo 1993. The lie has since been exposed, although the present Likud government is being pressed by Clinton to keep the Peres agreement.

To say the Arabs want Jerusalem merely because the Jews have it, would be simplistic but true. The Catholic Popes have long denied Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a city of peace, except for those who seek to conquer and divide. History shows Jerusalem’s many conquerors sought only to dominate, and thereby demonstrate their military, political and religious superiority over the Jews and their capital. When either Islam or Christianity had military control of the city, they denied the other religious freedom…/…and both denied it to the Jews.

Sadly, the two branches which spring from the root stock of Judaism feel it is necessary to destroy their own parent so that one or the other may claim the Covenant. If the Jews cooperate in their own destruction, how will Christianity and Islam go about defeating each other for G-d’s Covenant?

Once having won, how will the winner manage to present his claim to G-d?

Behind the politics aimed at disposing of Jerusalem

The disposing of Jerusalem by the Jews to the Arab Muslims didn’t just begin under the Olmert regime.  That was planned long ago under David Ben Gurion and those who sat at his feet. For future control of Israel, it was important that only (what today is called the Left) would retain power.  The Left’s adversary in 1947-8 was Menachem Begin and what Ben Gurion considered the religiously observant Right.

There was to be a political war, with no holds barred.   The objective of the Left was to insure that the Right and the Observant Religious Right never attained Power.

Those who sat at Ben Gurion’s feet as part of his power base knew their role and what they were supposed to do.   Men like Moshe Dayan, Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres were well aware of their obligation to the Party of the Left.  These men may be considered heroes of the Jewish people for their efforts to create a Jewish State but, heroes are too often flawed and those flaws must also be examined.

When Rabin accepted Ben Gurion’s assignment to shell the Altalena with Menachem Begin aboard, the objective was to kill Begin and stop the advance of Begin and the religious parties.   To prevent the threatened annihilation by the Arabs during 1947-8, Begin was bringing urgently needed arms from Europe and survivors from the Nazi death camps after WW2.   His plan was to share the critically needed arms between Ben Gurion’s Haganah and his Irgun to rescue Jerusalem which was besieged by the Arabs.   But, Ben Gurion saw this delivery of arms as a threat to his political power.  Rabin succeeded, even to the point of shooting Jews swimming ashore from the sinking Altalena.

When Moshe Dayan, on orders from Ben Gurion, took down the Israeli Flag from the Temple Mount and gave the keys to the Temple Mount over to control by the Muslim Wakf after the Temple Mount was captured from Jordan occupation in June 1967, it was in order to deny the Temple Mount to the Jews who were religiously observant and those who were nationally fervent.  There was to be no rallying point for them – like the possibility of re-building the Third Temple and thereby to deny the religious and nationalist Jews leadership within the Jewish nation.

When Rabin-Peres and Yossi Beilin secretly created the Olso Accords, signed at the White House September 13, 1993 in a pact with Yassir Arafat, the father of modern Muslim Terrorism, it was merely an extension of Ben Gurion’s dictates.   Their object was to continue slicing away religiously important parts of Israel and gift them to Muslim Arab Palestinian enemies.   The Oslo Accords’ surrender of Jewish Land was pure treason but, in keeping with the original pact of Ben Gurion to keep the nation’s traditional Jewish sites out of the hands of the Jews.  Only the Left was to rule – no matter what the cost to the Jewish people and the Jewish State.

Then Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu negotiated the Hebron Protocol of January 15-17, 1997, which was followed up with the Wye River Memorandum signed October 23, 1998 and ratified by the Knesset November 17, 1998 by a vote of 75-19.    With these Agreements Bibi literally gave away the venerable Cave of the Machpelah (Tomb of our Patriarchs and Matriarchs Avraham, Isaac, Jacob and Sarah, Rebecca, Leah and Rachel) and he also surrendered 80% of Hebron. (1)  Here again, vital parts of Jewish religious history and rallying points of Jewish tradition, were to be disposed of.

Now the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs was to have a title with a cloud over it because the Muslim Palestinians were given greater access.  They often vandalize and destroy Jewish books, Mezuzahs and Torah scrolls when they do have access.   Machpelah was also not to be a rallying point for the Jews, courtesy of Netanyahu who acted as a closet Leftist like Ariel Sharon who first tended to the abandonment of the Sinai Desert and Yamit.

In August 2005 Sharon (with the help of Ehud Olmert) uprooted and evacuated 10,000 Jewish men, women and children from the 21 communities of the thriving, bountiful Gush Katif/Gaza and 4 communities in Northern Samaria.   Most of them have still not been helped to re-build the homes, farms and businesses that the Israeli Government destroyed.

The new American President Barack Obama (through his new Secretary of State Hillary Clinton) has offered $900 million to the Muslim Arab Palestinians without pre-conditions of ending Gazan Rocket Fire or releasing Gilad Shalit. (2) Clinton (following Condoleezza Rice) insists that Israel surrender ancient Jewish Lands for a “two-State solution” – as she calls it.

Obama is even funding their immigration into the U.S. with $20.3 million of American taxpayers’ money – before the Jewish refugees of August 2005 are assisted.  Our first publication of this was called a “hoax”, until we presented it with the official documentation by the Federal Register of Presidential Documents dated February 4, 2009. (3)

Many venerable sites were abandoned with cold, calculating deliberation to insure that observant Jews were denied access.   Recall during the Intifada how the Tomb of Joseph in Shechem (called Nablus in Arabic) was allowed to fall into the hands of the Muslim Arab Palestinians, with no attempt to even rescue the soldiers defending it.   The Party in power never tried to re-take it.   It has been desecrated, burned time and again – even though the PA (Palestinian Authority) pledges to protect the Jewish Holy sites.

It was recently reported that Ehud Olmert gave up a large tract of land in the center of Jerusalem to the Russians.  Olmert certainly didn’t have the right to give away the Russian Compound to a dedicated enemy, further taking vital land of Jerusalem. (4)

Russia owes the Jews thousands of acres and hundreds of thousands of rubles for land, homes, institutions and belongings it confiscated from the Jews over the years in Russia, Poland and the whole Soviet Union including those parts that have since split away.

But, all this “gifting of Jewish Land to declared enemies” is in keeping with the goals of David Ben Gurion and the Left.  Many parts of Jerusalem have already been abandoned by Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and President Shimon Peres.   I have written about what the Kadima Party has done in virtually giving up these areas with a slice-by-slice abandonment.

Now, (of course, in collaboration with the U.S. State Department) Olmert still wishes to deliver Jerusalem into the hand of the Muslim Palestinians.   Olmert’s latest egregious statement was that “There can be no “peace” between Israel and the Palestinians unless the Jewish State is willing to divide Jerusalem”, PM Ehud Olmert declared in a speech to residents of the Israeli north. (5)

The last rallying point of the observant and nationalistic Jews will be denied them.

Perhaps you will agree that we Jews must take back our nation and clean out the corruption at all levels of Government.   Israel once had role models of honest Judges and Rulers.   Let us clean out the Temple, Jerusalem and all of Israel – as Judah Maccabee once did against the Romans – bringing SOVEREIGNTY back to the Jewish people.

Jerusalem, my home

This essay is not intended to be the sine qua non of exacting research for scholars which would and has taken volumes, but rather an outline of the conflict between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, using the lens of Jerusalem to observe and sort out the claims.

The claim on Jerusalem has a far broader base than merely the sovereignty over a city. The recent statement by Arab Muslims that Jerusalem is its third holiest city or the Vatican’s demand for the internationalization of Jerusalem are symptoms of far deeper and older ideological conflicts.

While the language of such a conflict will be cast in modern, secular terms, the real and present basis of conflict has its roots in the ancient religious struggle that has never ceased. In this world of jet planes and computers it is difficult for Westerners to believe or even understand that the keepers of religion, particularly in Muslim nations, still have an enormous influence on people. Ideas firmly implanted centuries past in the dogma of a religion merely need occasional reinforcing to keep them fresh.

With the exception of the Jews, Jerusalem’s various conquerors seem to have been unable through the centuries to present G-d with a petition of being the next and rightful heir that drew a clear response. In lieu of a Sinai-like proclamation where G-d spoke to the Hebrew people, challengers can only satisfy themselves that conquering the land provides indisputable proof of their claim through G-d’s will.

A bit of history is needed to present the context and perspective of the conflict and claims.

The site which became the Temple Mount, was originally called Mount Moriah, and, according to Scripture, was first chosen as the altar where Abraham demonstrated his obedience to G-d’s will, by offering his son Isaac. Located in rugged terrain, Jerusalem was never a likely crossroad for commerce nor had any precious mineral value that would attract the multitude of nations who would invade over the centuries. But it did have something unique, a promise or mystical spirit that spoke of a very close connection with G-d and therefore man’s most cherished desire… immortality or a form of life after death.

No doubt G-d and the promise of immortality was a powerful drawing force influence upon our developing civilization. From pagan ritual through our dignified appeals of today, mankind has always sought something in the beyond. Today Freudian analysis might define it as the drive to survive beyond the limitations of death.

Around 3000 years ago, King David conquered the pagan tribes living there and established the City of David to be called Jerusalem. The Bible says that because he was a man of war even by necessity, G-d didn’t allow King David to build The Holy Temple.

King Solomon, wisest son of David, was selected by G-d to build The Temple, the inspirational place of G-d and to house the Ark of the Covenant: “And the Lord came to Solomon, saying ‘As for this house which you are building…I will dwell therein among the children of Israel and will not forsake my people Israel’”     (I Kings 6:12a-13). King Solomon proceeded to build The Temple in 960 BCE anchored deep in the bedrock, steadied by high 70 ton foundation stones, thus proclaiming fact and intention.

The Jews had fearfully accepted being chosen by G-d by following His Commandments for conducting their lives. In so doing they steadily influenced the spread of monotheism to other peoples who had avidly pursued what they perceived to be a superior promise of immortality by using their many forms of idol worship.

The direct conduit to G-d brought loneliness for the Jews who were resented. Their right to be the anointed of G-d through the Covenant was continually challenged. Even among the Jews themselves we hear stories of Moses’ brother and sister, Aaron and Miriam displaying envy for Moses’ ability to speak directly to G-d, for which they were punished severely.

The Bible is replete with frank stories of individuals challenging G-d’s directions and the leaders He selected. Some broke away to find their own way to speak to G-d directly. Some stayed within the original laws mandated by G-d in the Ten Commandments and the 613 Laws that accompanied them, while others choose what they believed to be the best path for themselves. Challengers believed there was only room for one ‘people’ on that most precious path and the Jews were perceived as blocking the way. Every effort was made to eliminate the Jewish people as a stumbling block to the higher goals of whatever new order believed itself the newly chosen.

The Land of Israel, particularly Jerusalem, was a key setting for the history of the Jewish people. Their lineage is dramatic and colorful as G-d simultaneously blesses and burdens them with the task of being His chosen people and “a light unto the nations”.

An intellectual analysis might conclude that the one, proven all-powerful Deity ought to be followed by all. Not so. Those who established the respective hierarchies of their various religions didn’t see it that way. Dress codes, methods of worship, size and splendor of buildings, etc., were all the symbolic religious weapons of competition. Above all, great wars were fought, usually demanding obedience to the victors’ gods from the vanquished. The most important of these symbols of victory were mystical locations or cities with spiritual power. Jerusalem was the most ancient and compelling of these mystical symbols.

Jerusalem suffered a sea of blood soaked into its soil as nation upon nation self-proclaimed their divine mandate in the name of their god or gods to capture the city and surrounding land. Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Franks, Saracens, Turks, Christians crusading in the name of Jesus and Arabs carrying the flag of Mohammed’s Islam. All came; all slaughtered each other; and all slaughtered the Jews. Jerusalem was their booty as they carried the loot of the Temples back to their respective cities. One cannot forget the monument to Titus, engraved with the Holy golden Menorah and other Holy Temple objects which were brought to Rome to honor Titus, now the conquering Emperor in a mighty procession of loot and Jewish slaves.

The magnetic attraction of Jerusalem in Israel was never so great as demonstrated by the illumination of the hate brought to a white-heat by Germany and echoed by the Christian nations of Europe. NOT ONE COUNTRY, INCLUDING THE ALLIES, MOVED TO SAVE THE JEWS.

We cannot help but be mindful of Paul (Romanized from the Jewish Saul) who, after the death of Jesus, preached separation to the pagan masses. Although he weaned many away from idol worship, his doctrine of separation was evolved over the intervening centuries into a palpable hate for the Jews, exemplified (but not ended) in the willingness of Christian Europe to either participate or watch while most of the Jews were brutally killed.

The great influx of Jews into the Land of Israel from the Diaspora revived and gave a new shape to Judaism itself.  But, this return was disturbing to the Vatican and even more so to Islam. The resurgence of Judaism in the Land of Israel clouded the claims by Christianity that the Jews had been abandoned by G-d, a fundamental platform upon which the Church asserted its ascension as “G-d’s newly chosen”.

The ancient prophecies of the Jews’ return to their Land after 2000 years of exile seemed to signal a clear re-affirmation of their chosen status. The perceived redemption of the Jews could not be tolerated. The same nations, who participated in the Holocaust, would again make themselves heard behind a litany of hypocritical proclamations in support of Islamic intentions.

Since 1948 Israel was attacked by seven Arab States in 6 major wars and ongoing Arab state-sponsored terrorism, with no end in sight. The conflict proceeded on two levels. One war used the armaments of battle; the other war was fought with ‘secular’ weapons, oil, terrorism and the media. However, the Muslim battle-cry of “Allahu Akbar” (G-d is great) illustrates the true root cause of the conflict.

Islam and Christianity have over the centuries alleged that Judaism had not discharged its obligation to G-d and had, therefore, abrogated G-d’s Covenant with the Jews. Each claimed the earthly right to be the successor. Both worked diligently to demonize their parent, often engaging in genocide in order to eliminate the cloud surrounding the issue of who was to inherit the Covenant. Each expected to contest the matter with the other, once the Jews either chose to be absorbed by one side or was eliminated as a party to the issue altogether. It would have strengthened the claim of Islam or Christianity if the Jews were to convert and, in effect, deliver their entire heritage to either.

Since the invisible Covenant expressing G-d’s Will could not be literally captured, the next best thing was to physically take possession of the on-ground site of the Jewish Holy of Holies (The Temple) and the territory on which it stood: Jerusalem and, if possible, the Land of Israel totally. Christians and Muslims made their claim based upon the functionally ancient concept: “To the victor go the spoils”. Today, with the Jews firmly back in Jerusalem and Islam in a state of aggressive expansion, the ground is well prepared for a bloody contest.

The major Christian presence in the Land of Israel began in the Byzantine period, when Emperor Constantine declared himself Master of Palestine in 324 CE. He had the Roman temple of Venus destroyed and, according to Christian historical accounts, the “true cross” was found. He built the Church of the Holy Sepulcher here, now holy to every Christian denomination resulting in constant internal battles over the proprietary ownership of the Church. It is only since 1967 when the Israelis reunited Jerusalem that some peace reigns in the church as the Jews coordinate the various denominations’ prayer times. Each denomination was allocated space and prayer time resulting in a tranquil atmosphere.

According to recent claims by the Arab nations, Jerusalem is third in holiness; ranked behind Mecca and Medina. How this hierarchy came to be sheds considerable light on the nature of Islam’s claim to Jerusalem. Mohammed was born in Mecca in 570 CE, founded Islam in 610, and died in Medina in 632. After 610 he approached the Jews with the claim that he was G-d’s new and final prophet and should be followed as such. Followers of Islam maintained that his lineage included Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Jesus and that he was the last of the prophets. For a time Mohammed directed that Muslims were to pray in the direction of Jerusalem, presumably for the purpose of attracting Jewish followers. The Jews refused to follow Mohammed on the grounds that he sought to go against the specified and unalterable laws of the Torah.

Mohammed signed a peace treaty with the Jewish Quraish Tribe, called the “Hudabaiya Treaty”.  He promised peace for 10 years and so he was allowed to pray at the Ka’aba Stone, a beautiful monolith in Mecca.  He returned two years later with a stronger army and slaughtered the Jewish community of Mecca and Yathrib, later called Medina, for their obstinacy. He literally beheaded the Jewish men, captured the Jewish women and children who were sold into slavery.

When the Jews refused his leadership, he changed this direction of prayer (qibla) and designated Mecca as the city to which all believers were to bow five times a day in obedient prayer.

The Qur’an is the book (Islam’s equivalent of the Bible) that defines Islamic law and embodies the religious thought processes of all Muslims. While it provides for elaborate instruction for True Believers (Muslims) with respect to worship, pilgrimage to Mecca, etc., it never once mentions Jerusalem.

There was one recent effort to create a mention of Jerusalem from Sura 17:1 in the Qur’an which reads: “Praise be to Him who made His servants go from the sacred Mosque to the further Mosque whose surroundings we have blessed, that We might show him some of our signs.” This interpretation is not accepted by the more scholarly conservatives among the faithful Muslims and Jerusalem still remains absent from the book of the Qur’an.

It was not until the days of Umayyad Caliph Abd el-Malik (685-705) that Jerusalem attained any significant momentary status for Arabs. The Caliph lived in Damascus and was a political rival of the rulers in the Hejaz (western Saudi Arabia). He sought to generate political power by expanding Jerusalem to be a counterweight to Mecca and the sons of Ali. He constructed the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount as a shrine, not a mosque, over ruins of the Jewish First and Second Temples, in order to re-orient the religious compass of Islam towards his sphere of geo-political ambitious influence. He also desired to create an Islamic focal point that would outshine another claimant, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre located just down the street.

In 683 CE Caliph Al-Waltid added the al-Aqsa Mosque over a Christian church as a holy shrine for the Muslims. The building was emptied of Christian fixtures and prayer rugs were laid down. The world of Islam mostly ignored the presumption of the Caliph and continued to give their sole obedience to the Qur’an and Mecca. Jerusalem was merely to remain a conquered city with a mosque for travelers and local Muslims. The opulence and general splendor would lead the Western visitor to believe that this was indeed the focal point of Islamic reverence; however the facts of Mohammed’s commands are indisputable.

As a sign of victory, Christianity and Islam often placed their churches or mosques near or directly over the foundations of religious shrines of conquered or converted nations. The Dome of the Rock is historically more of a reactionary manifestation of political and religious rivalry than a site of inherent and independent religious significance. It is as if the mere presence and weight of this shrine and the Al Aksa mosque would forevermore establish the dominance of Islam over the spirit of its detested rivals, and keep the Jews along with Christians down in the low state called Dhimmi that Islam mandates.

The claim that Jerusalem is Islam’s third holiest city seems to be without historical basis. Not only is it not mentioned in the Qur’an, but there is no mandate for a Haj (pilgrimage) to Jerusalem. It attained a brief popular importance when it became the symbol of the battle between Islam and the Christian Crusades.

Today’s possession of Jerusalem by the Jews is perceived as merely a temporary setback for Christianity and Islam as they struggle to establish the claim that theirs is the only true religion for mankind.

In 1948 when Israel proclaimed its political sovereignty once more, Jerusalem evidenced the almost total neglect of 2000 years. In 1967 when Israel re-captured the other half of the city from Jordan, the conditions they found were appalling. The City, supposedly venerated by Islam, was a veritable garbage dump. Refuse and dead animals were piled against its walls while the streets flowed with sewage. Over the 19 years that Jerusalem was under Jordanian rule, religious shrines of both Judaism and Christianity were desecrated and destroyed. Some were used as latrines and stables.

This method of displaying contempt for your enemy was used by both Muslims and Christians. Hussein, king of Jordan, built his capital in Amman and did very little to improve life in Judea, Samaria or Jerusalem.

Such neglect over the centuries spoke volumes. From 1948-1967 while old Jerusalem was under King Hussein, no Muslim mandates ordered religious pilgrimages to these mosques nor did any of the great religious personages of Islam find it necessary to visit. No similar demands in the Qur’an said Muslims must pray at the mosque, let alone Jerusalem, unlike the Jews who were by G-d’s command to appear in Jerusalem three times a year during the time of the Temple. This city was clearly a despised symbol of Judaism for Islam and not the venerated well-spring of religious inspiration that was Mecca or Medina. The Dome of the Rock may now hold political-religious significance for Moslems as a shrine but this does not legitimize Islam’s claim that it is the successor of Solomon’s Temple. Nor is it any proof for Muslim sovereignty over the City of Jerusalem.

Similarly, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, while holding great religious significance for Christians, cannot justify nor establish a claim to Jerusalem as the extended territory of Christianity at large.

This was however, a city venerated by Jews throughout 3,000 years where their souls were closest to the Holy of Holies. How could any true believer of Islam face this city of Jewish history in prayer with the veneration they had for Mecca? Yet, for Muslims the Qur’an instructs them that any land that was ever captured by Muslims is forever Muslim and must be recaptured if lost. Therefore, the religious prescription is a military one. Islam, in fact, does control the affairs of state in Muslim countries. How one practices Islam is the root of most inter-Arab conflicts. If their religious claims for “the liberation of Jerusalem” were accepted by the international community, Muslims could logically demand that Spain, parts of France, etc. once under Muslim control, must accept the return of Islamic rule. While Christianity may have forgotten the mandate of return by Islam, be assured the Muslims have not.

The fact that the Dome of the Rock is placed squarely on top of the Jews’ most holy site in the Jews most holy city is highly indicative as to the nature of the conflict. Other Islamic attempts at expansion try to demonstrate their dominance over Judaism. In the eastern wall of the City where the sun rises first on the Golden Gate, the prophesied entry of the Jewish Moshiach was bricked over and a Muslim graveyard established in front of it because, according to a Muslim understanding of Hebrew tradition, the Moshiach would not walk on the unhallowed ground of a cemetery. This is true only for a Cohen (descendant of the ancient priestly clan) who is not permitted to walk on a Jewish cemetery.

Although both the Muslims and Christians press their claim, they forget that each denied the other access to their own buildings of worship when it was in their respective hands to do so. Only when the Jews re-united the divided city of Jerusalem were all worshipers allowed free access. Today, confident of freedom of access, any religious order may pray in their holy places or whatever they consider a shrine.

It is frustrating that the Jews show forbearance even when the muezzins use loudspeakers at high volume to call the faithful to prayer 5 times day and night, and more than occasionally suggest violence toward the Jews. Were the Muslims in control again, one might expect a slaughter of the Jews, which has also happened too frequently. Given the history of Christianity and Islam with respect to allowing freedom of worship to each other or the Jews, it seems doubtful they would allow others to do what the Jews have done…allowing every religion to worship with no restrictions.

When the Jews started to clean up the debris, put in sewers, and polished up the “Eternal City of Gold”, it again became of interest to Islam and Christianity. Although the Islamic holy men still would not visit the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque to which they had free access, their shrill screams for the liberation of Jerusalem are heard in all the capitals of the West.

The Arab claims against the City of Jerusalem are groundless except as former conquerors and only supported by such nations who either wish the Jewish nation ill, or those who toady to Arab oil wealth. Their claim of sovereignty, outside of individual structures, has no scholarly merit and is useful only as a means to politically obtain half or all of today’s modern Jerusalem. Simply stated, the Arabs now want IT because the Jews have IT.

The two religions, Islam and Christianity, each having proclaimed themselves as the only true path have used all means to validate their claim, including genocide. The historian Arnold Toynbee pondered the reasons as to why the Jew didn’t have the decency to fade into history as all other ancient civilizations or nations have. In spite of the Inquisition, pogroms, the Holocaust and generally cruel hatred at the hands of these two religions, the Jews remain steadfast, causing consternation to their challengers and yet seemingly immune to extinction as we continue our trek through history.

It is now 1991 and we are at war with Iraq. As mentioned before, information coming out of Washington indicates that President George H.W. Bush, in order to assure participation of the Arabs in the coalition, has made an executive commitment to allow the United Nations to convene an “International Peace Conference” and agreed NOT to protect Israel with the United States’ veto power. Those familiar with the code language of geo-politics understand that the nations of the United Nations who have already voted 170 times against Israel may, under the influence of Arab power, again show their unremitting hatred of the Jewish State.

The short-term alliance of convenience between the Islamic world and the Christian nations may try to strip Israel of land won in seven bloody, defensive wars with her hostile Arab neighbors and ongoing vicious terrorism. They will exert every effort to divide the city of Jerusalem again, although through the polite conventions of diplomatic language, this action will be termed “Internationalization”.  Israel may become more vulnerable if the Christian West attempts to appease the senseless and pathological Muslim hatred of the Jews by forcing hostile Palestinians into a tiny enclave in Judea and Samaria, smoldering in hate, with half of Jerusalem as its capital. War, already endemic to the region, will become a permanent condition eventually ending in what is prophetically referred to as Armageddon.

Only by blending the psycho-history of the peoples with their fierce underlying struggle to be “number one” with G-d, can one begin to understand the claims and counter-claims. The assurance that one can enjoy life after death is of the same stuff as the human motivation for survival. When the world is viewed through a mystical religious prism, then the world-to-come is as important, if not more so, than life itself. When the Muslims call for jihad (holy war) to fight the infidels, those Muslims who are killed were promised that they’d go straight to paradise.  This thought process has brought mankind to what may be the brink of destruction by their own hands. If the mean-spirited claim is pressed for the division or “internationalization” of Jerusalem, then surely one can expect a great calamity.

Perhaps G-d will be offended by having his court assaulted and petitions so impetuously issued. Once before men built the gigantic ziggurat so they could petition G-d in His heaven. It was called the Tower of Babel. “And He confounded them and dispersed them to the four corners of the world.”

Conclusion: There is little doubt that the three great religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam could live in peace and harmony. Utopian dreaminess cannot bring this about by demanding peace merely because they can envision a better world if peace were to suddenly envelope us on demand. The facts of history speak too plainly to be ignored. The horrible things men have done in the name of their religions is a message too powerful to ignore. Given mankind’s insatiable pursuit of the perceived rewards of life after death, it seems unlikely they will be dissuaded from pursuing whatever formula their respective religions mandate.

The Jews seem to fall into a category of a minority litmus test which, if true, mankind has failed to pass. There are approximately 14 million Jews left on earth against a world population of 7 billion, or 0.2%. Hardly a speck of sand in a desert and yet an addictive fascination—if daily front page stories in the world’s media are any criteria.

Jerusalem, the City of Gold shines for the Jews

The Jews came back to Israel and Jerusalem smiled again.   The filth that the non-Jews had piled up against the once Golden Stones that made up the walls of the Sacred City was cleaned.   Our enemies had come in waves, trying to tear our hearts and souls from the City they wanted to take from us for their own.  But, even when they succeeded to conquer, it was only for a short time before they too were defeated.

The Jews have returned but, the envious others have also returned with their killing ways, including human sacrifice of ours and of their own.   The world’s nations want our strip of Land which is no more than 300 miles in length and fifty miles wide in width.

Israel is barely a dot on a map but, our enemies believe she holds the power of a G-d they wish to own and control for themselves.   Over the centuries Jerusalem’s conquerors only found the stones and mortar but, her spirit eluded them all.

So, the Romans looted the Temple of Solomon, parading G-d’s serving instruments through the streets of Rome.   The ‘Arc de Triomphe’ is carved with those images – with the Grand Golden Menorah (Candelabra) and the Golden Dishes with which the Jews had sanctified G-d in their Temple prayer services – all are carried in arrogant pride that they had looted G-d’s Holy of Holies.

They had the Gold Service used by the Jewish Temple Priests but, that’s all they had.   They thought G-d was in the Gold they hid down in their vaults but, the Glory they expected never came.   So, now once again, the nations of the world want to conquer Israel and claim Jerusalem for their own.

Naturally, the competing religions of Christianity and Islam know that they will go to war with each other – once they have deposed the Jews…IF they can succeed against G-d’s chosen.

But, more than that, they believe that if they have/own Jerusalem, they will have captured      G-d.   Then they can rule the world because G-d will have to obey their commands.  Who are today’s legions who wish to attack and conquer Jerusalem and dispose of Jerusalem’s rightful owners, the Jews?

Who are today’s Evil Amalekites out of Edom who the Jews must now face?   Of course, there are the Ishmaelites who now call themselves any number of things – Arabs, Islamists, Jihadists, Syrians, Iranians, then there are Palestinians, Fatah, Hamas, Hezb’Allah.  Strangely, for a brief moment in time, the Ishmaelites, always the adversaries of the Christians of Europe, have found a common cause that unites them.

Both the Muslims and Christians want Jerusalem for their own.   Both want to lead the world.   Both believe that the Jews stand in the way of what they both want.

Pope Benedict XVI came to Israel for a week of Catholic ceremonies May 11th to 14, 2009.   It is said that he is negotiating to take control of Mt. Zion.  “The specific holy sites President Shimon Peres asked the government to relinquish sovereignty over as a gesture of good will for Pope Benedict XVI are:  the Cenacle on Mt. Zion [where the Diaspora Yeshiva is], said to be the site of the Last Supper; the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth; Gethsemane in Jerusalem; Capernaum, Tabgha and Mt. Tabor.” (1)

Who will defend Israel; who is left?    Surely America can be relied upon as friends and allies of the Jewish State of Israel.   But, of course, I speak of the American people and the American Congress – a nation who defends the righteous.   I do not speak of the Arabists who have infiltrated and taken over the current American Government.   They have more in common with Israel’s enemies than with the American people.   As a result, they too are being attacked by the radical Islamists who are attacking Israel.

Things are not always as they seem or as they once were.  History has shown that the nations and civilizations who went against the nation of Israel as conquerors, have either disappeared or spiraled into poverty.   We watched as the Bush family and various Secretaries of State made common cause with the Muslim and Arab oil nations against the safety and sovereignty of the Jewish State of Israel, notwithstanding their frequent dishonest pledges of support for the Jewish nation.

Look at how America is suffering, first from the Bush-Rice Administration and even more from Obama now.   But, the Bush dynasty is gone and now a new family sleeps in the White House.   Here again the new leader, with his advisors, have taken the same path in bonding with Israel’s most dedicated Ishmaelite enemies.   The Bushes enriched the oil companies, starting America’s downward slide and Obama increases the slippery plunge into bankruptcy and foreclosures, while the Treasury prints dollars that are worth less and less by the hour.

For America, it’s like the sky has fallen as American dollars devalue and the new Government prints money and goes into debt by the Trillions.   American taxpayers will be paying off Obama’s debt for generations, if ever.  Obama will tax the true hard workers who create jobs save and pay taxes so they can support Obama’s non-working people who pay no tax while living on free entitlements.

Hopefully, the new President will see that fighting G-d and G-d’s chosen people is a useless and dangerous task – in addition to bringing calamity upon the American nation which doesn’t deserve what the President is leading them into.  [May 8, 2009]

They call Jerusalem, the City of Gold, but that Gold only shines when we Jews are in our Holy City, our Eternal Capital.

Eternal Jerusalem

Jews – Christians – Muslims: Each claims a special proprietary relationship with Jerusalem. But the contest over Jerusalem is merely a microcosm of the centuries-old competition that is endemic to the Middle East and underlies much of today’s conflicts. Each challenging order submits their claim as if it supersedes that of all others, insisting conquest justifies their demand which of course, it doesn’t. The reader must understand that this region of the world breeds feuds that can last hundreds, if not thousands of years.

Does it matter who claims Jerusalem as long as its true owners once again have full possession? The Jews are living in Jerusalem under an Israeli government, with their own laws, once again controlling their own destiny. Unlike any other city in the region, anyone may worship whatever god they are disposed to follow . . . or not worship at all. Like any city in America, you must merely obey the law, pay your taxes and you are pretty much free to do as you please.

However, there is a challenge hanging over the city which comes primarily from two old and dedicated enemies of the Jews. The challenge comes in two parts but they are ostensibly bound into one. The Muslims representing 57 Muslim nations, 22 Arab countries, Palestinians and Islam say that Jerusalem is their third holiest city and, therefore, they have a right to half (if not all of Jerusalem) as their capital. The Vatican demands that Jerusalem be “internationalized” because three religions have a vital interest in the city and all must be free to worship there.

These claims are somewhat strange since historical records illustrate that when the city of Jerusalem was in the hands of either Islam or Christianity, both denied each other freedom of worship and both denied the Jews that right.

In 1917 he assisted in the British declaration of intent, the Balfour Declaration to establish a “National Homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine”. In 1918 the British and French won World War I, they liberated the region from 500 years of Turkish rule under the Ottoman Empire.

At an international conference in San Remo, Italy in 1920 the League of Nations ratified the Balfour Declaration of 1917. The San Remo Conference was never abrogated!! When the United Nations took over the League of Nations assets including the “Mandate for Palestine,” a historical League of Nations document that laid down the Jewish legal right to settle anywhere in western Palestine, between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, an entitlement unaltered in international law.

The “Mandate for Palestine” was not a naive vision briefly embraced by the international community. Fifty-one member countries—the entire League of Nations—unanimously declared on July 24, 1922: “Whereas recognition has been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country.”

It is important to point out that political rights to self-determination as a polity for Arabs, were guaranteed by the same League of Nations in four other mandates—in Lebanon and Syria [The French Mandate], Iraq, and later Trans-Jordan [The British Mandate]. 1

The League of Nations ratified the Balfour Declaration in 1920, as did a U.S. Joint Congressional Resolution of 1922.

Emir Faisal had been named King of Syria, but when the French took over the mandate for Syria, they ejected Faisal. The British then named Faisal King of Iraq. To further placate the Arabs, then Colonial Secretary Winston Churchill cut away 76.5% of Palestine, 35,000 square miles — creating a brand new Arab entity, Trans-Jordan, and installed Faisal’s brother, a Hashemite from Saudi Arabia, Abdullah, as Emir.

The British continued to hold the Palestinian Mandate over the land west of the Jordan (approximately 23% of the original Mandate) until 1947 when the United Nations partitioned this land between the Jews and the Arabs. The Jews accepted the partition; the Arabs nations refused. Upon the formal announcement that Israel had proclaimed itself a nation, trained armies from seven Arab countries attacked the fledgling Jewish State proclaiming a war of total elimination for the glory of Islam.

Miraculously the Jews won.

However, the final cease fire left the Jordanians in control of the two territories of Judea and Samaria which they renamed the West Bank (of the Jordan River). Jordan was now also in control of the North, East and South sectors of Jerusalem, including the Old City with the Jewish Temple Mount and Western Wall. With the exception of Great Britain and Pakistan, all the other nations, including the Arab countries, refused to recognize Jordan’s conquest and sovereignty.

The Jews won control over the western enclave of Jerusalem.

In fact, there were no recorded visits of religious leaders coming from Mecca, Medinah, Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, ‘et al’, to pay homage to what they now claim is the third holiest city of Islam.

Jerusalem simply was not on the list of cities a True (Muslim) Believer was required to visit. When on a journey elsewhere and, if a Muslim happened to visit Jerusalem it was called a ‘ziara’ or visit and the Muslim accrued no special honor.

Streets were often merely open sewers — refuse piled up against its ancient walls.  A series of 6 photographs depict the holy sites of Christians and Jews were desecrated. While the Jordanians were somewhat restrained in their actions against the Church due to the powerful influence of Christianity in the free world, the Jews had no such protection.

Fifty-eight synagogues were destroyed — often turned into stables. The headstones from Jewish cemeteries were used as splash plates in urinals for Jordanian soldiers and to pave roads. A mosque was built over the graves. Later, in June 1967 when the Jews freed the city, those headstones were recovered and replaced in the cemeteries as best as they could. While this desecration was well‑known to the Christian world and all the western nations, none protested. Jerusalem was again being ravaged and no one cared — except the Jews.

As a relevant aside, I was amused as the valiant Peter Arnett of CNN broadcast on January 26, l99l that he was in Najeb, Iraq covering bomb damage in what the Iraqi religious leaders claimed was the “Third holiest city after Mecca and Medina” Peter’s was very likely a most accurate claim.

The city of Jerusalem was for the Jews the mystical place of G‑D’s presence on earth. It was for the Jews the only Capital they would ever have or want. While the two other religions chose Rome and Mecca for their capitals, during their 2000 years of exile, the Jews thought only of Jerusalem as the City of their soul. Clearly, the linkage between the Jews and their G‑d was palpable in this place called Jerusalem.

Gods were entreated with all sorts of blandishments, like human sacrifice, starvation, large opulent buildings, whipping one’s body, singing and dancing in erotic ceremonials. Conquerors occasionally ate their enemies to absorb their earthly power and that of their gods.

And then G‑D came to the Hebrews with a promise which cast doubt on the idol worship of man. The Hebrews accepted One G‑D which, in effect, denied the existence of all other deities. This G‑D was invisible and all one had to do was to follow His Commandments and 613 Injunctions (“mitzvoth” or good deeds) and it was perceived you received the guarantee that mankind had always been seeking, namely a life after death.

Instead of accepting the One G‑D and joining the Jews, there followed a great scrambling to enjoy the fruits the new G‑D offered — but not to join the Jews and their tedious rules for living. Each wanted their own religious pathway directly to the ear of G‑D and the Jews were perceived as merely standing in the way. An on‑going effort continues to this day, wherein the Jews were defined as demons and therefore unworthy of G‑D’s Grace and the Divine Covenant.

As the armies swept up and back across the land, soaking it in blood, they could not quite grasp the elusive thing they were truly after. Although they conquered the land and all had their turn to extract from Jerusalem everything that could be taken, they could not take what the Jews had been given by G‑d, namely Jerusalem’s Holy Spirit.

“I am the Lord, thy G‑D and you are My people.”

G‑D made a Covenant with the Jewish people which He has never withdrawn. Other challenging religions have said, you Jews have broken your agreement with G‑D and we are the rightful heirs of the Covenant. This was followed by campaigns to elevate and separate their religions by casting the Jews as demons and thereby slaughtering them with no concern for conscience. This pursuit of the Jews goes on to this very day. The demonology taught by Christianity and Islam is so deeply rooted it almost no longer needs to be taught, as it permeates each coming generation. The concept of “Jew‑Hatred” or anti‑Semitism was born in this crucible.

What is found as we look back in history is a tangle of invasions wherein numerous religions, countries or superpowers such as Rome, captured Jerusalem. Often, if the ever‑present Jew was not slaughtered, he was pressed to join one or another religion.

Presumably this extraordinary heritage of the Jew wherein G‑D Almighty conferred His Grace through His Covenant on the Jewish people could then be grafted onto another religion. Whether for the gods of Rome, Greece, the religions of Christianity or Islam — if the Jew accepted the linkage of submission to another religion, this would prove the claim that the new religion was the last and only, because it now owned the direct Word of G‑D. The Jews, however, never accepted other religions and were hated for this obstinacy and presumed withholding of that most precious commodity . . . immortality.

Christianity and Islam each put themselves forward as the more deserving religion and therefore the rightful heirs to be The Chosen People. This did not bode well for the Jews as they were pursued through the centuries with all sorts of devised cruelty, pogroms, to finally peak with a great slaughter called the Holocaust — which sadly did not yet end the pursuit.

What does all this have to do with Jerusalem?  Simply — whatever the Jews considered valuable or spiritual, that was sufficient to make it a prize of war. Judaism’s competitors, driven by religious fervor and seeking their “rightful inheritance”, believed capturing Jerusalem would convey the mystical authority each sought. Subduing one’s enemy did demonstrate certain earthly and presumably religious facts.

By capturing and holding Jerusalem, the conquerors were assured they were the righteous heirs until the next conquerors ‘proved’ they were.  Each would build an edifice of his religion usually directly over or near the site of the ancient Jewish Holy of Holies within the First and Second Temples, which is why the Mountain of Moriah is called The Temple Mount.  Such religious structures were a symbolic statement to all challengers to be forewarned that it was their specific religion who controlled and was clearly blessed by G‑D.

Jerusalem was the City of King David 3000 years ago. In 960 BCE King Solomon built the First Temple whose gigantic 70 ton foundation stones gave testimony to the intention of the G‑D of the Jews. Jerusalem was steeped in the history of the Jews and it would be impossible to expunge its Jewish essence, although many tried.

In 586 BCE Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the First Temple, exiling the Jewish people to Babylon. King Cyrus enabled the exiled Jews to return to Jerusalem and re-build the Temple in 515 BCE.   King Herod enlarged and glorified the Second Temple, building a retaining Wall to hold the newly enlarged Second Temple.  The Western Wall of that retaining wall is now called the Kotel HaMa’aravi:  The Western Wall.

In 70 CE the Romans burned the Second Temple, salted the earth so nothing would grow, exiled the Jews and renamed Jerusalem “Aeolia Capitolina”. They also renamed the Land of Israel “Palestina” to purge the land of any Jewish presence.

Compare that to the Hebrew Bible wherein Jerusalem is mentioned in creatively loving terms of endearment not less than 667 times. [I was told by a very special Rabbi that the significance of that number “667” resonates with June, 1967 when Jerusalem was redeemed by the Jewish people from the Muslim King Hussein who had no honor for his ‘prize’.]

It was not because Mohammed was unaware of the Jews and Jerusalem. In 610 CE he had first approached the Jews offering to be their leader as the last prophet of G‑d. For 19 years he instructed his followers to direct their ‘quibla’ prayers toward Jerusalem as though to sway the Jews to his teachings. But when the Jews refused to abandon their faith, he slaughtered the Jews of Mecca and Yathrib (later called Medina) by beheading the men of the Jewish tribe of Quraish and selling the Jewish women and children into slavery.  Mohammed became the ‘First Islamist’.  His followers were ordered to follow his many examples by which he lived.  He also directed his followers to re-direct their ‘quibla’ towards Mecca. Jerusalem was never again venerated in prayer by Muslims.  They now bow toward Mecca, kneeling with their back sides to Jerusalem.

In 683 CE Caliph Al‑Walted built Al Aqsa Mosque over a Christian church located on the Temple Mount. In 685‑705 CE the Umayyad Caliph Abd‑el Malik built the Dome of the Rock . . . also on the Temple Mount. This Caliph who lived in Damascus attempted to re‑direct the Islamic compass away from Mecca towards Jerusalem and his sphere of religious/political power. Malik desired the profits of the pilgrimage to come to ‘his’ temple on the Jewish Temple Mount.  The political thrust of all this was that Islam continued to ignore Jerusalem as a non‑entity and worshiped toward Mecca.

The Christian Crusaders in their war against both Muslims and Jews conquered Jerusalem in 1099 CE. On the Temple Mount’s northeast corner they built the Church of the Repose. At first the king’s court had their residence in Al-Aqsa Mosque until the area was given to the Christian Knight Templars in 1100. The Knight Templars used the Al‑Aqsa Mosque as a training building for sword play. In the Dome of the Rock they placed a Baptistery called “The Lord’s Temple”. Again symbols of victory over the vanquished took the form of religious structures to announce in brick and mortar whose god carried them to victory.

Whether it was the Christians conquering Jerusalem or Saladin (Salah‑a-Din) re‑capturing the city in the name of Islam in 1189 CE, Jerusalem was a prize of war and a powerful symbol of victory over hated enemies. When Saladin, a Muslim Kurd, gathered the nomadic Arab tribes into a cohesive fighting force and drove the Christians from the land, it was the first and last time the Arabs gathered into a unit.  This story has become a mainstay of Islamic legend and heroic deeds.

In 1200 CE, after that great victory, while under Muslim rule, Jerusalem was never declared the capital of the Muslim entity. Ramle was chosen as the capital of the region.

The Muslims believed they gave away nothing and the Christians believed they received nothing.

Many indicators over the centuries demonstrated that Jerusalem was not a focal point of the numerous civilizations that captured her as a prize. While Europe was immersed in the Dark Ages, 1000 years ago, Islam was enjoying the Golden Age of the Abbasid (Arab) Caliphs. They expanded and brought art, literature to Cordoba, Granada with magnificent edifices built in Damascus, Baghdad, Cairo — all to the grandeur of Islam.

The OSS knew a live Jew transported to a death camp tied up rail equipment which could otherwise carry German soldiers and supplies to the front. The battle for Jerusalem takes place in many forms and places. By the end of WWII, Islam was aligned with the Nazis and the Vatican assisted Nazi war criminals to escape.

The Jews dreamed and prayed to once again be sovereign in their own land with its capital Jerusalem; their enemies continued to capture and recapture the city . . . denying the Jews their dream. Nevertheless the Jews kept trekking through history to the consternation of their foes.

While there has always been a Jewish presence in Jerusalem and a demographic Jewish majority since 1840, the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 was the catalyst for resurgence in population.

With Jerusalem and the borders of Israel titled to the Jews by G‑d according to scripture, repossession becomes the psycho‑religious equivalent of: “Whoever possesses the Land, possesses the Deed of the Divine Covenant and the direct conduit to G‑D.

It is now 1991. We have looked back in time to discover that, with the exception of individual sites, neither the Christians nor the Muslims ever wanted Jerusalem – except to deny it to the Jews. Only the Jews faithfully considered Jerusalem their Capital – in perpetuity. But, the war to recapture the earthly and spiritual Jerusalem goes on.

We have been told that soon after the Gulf War ends, a “Gathering of the Nations” under United Nations auspices will take place to “settle” the Arab-Israeli dispute. Given the past history of the U.N., one can anticipate that the influential 22 Arab oil nations, and the total of 57 Muslim countries – with Western nations in tow, will press for punitive measures not only to legitimize their claim on Jerusalem but also to further truncate Israel.

The present war with Iraq has re‑kindled age old Arab dreams of glory through unification as in 1191 when Saladin, in the name of “jihad” for Islam, drove the Christian crusaders out of Jerusalem and entire region. While the visceral religious hate for the West remains, frequently displayed in angry street demonstrations, nonetheless the Islamic nations with their leverage of oil can demand and receive appeasement from the Christian West. On the matter of Jerusalem, old enemies can be expected to join forces or, as often said in this region: “my enemies’ enemy is my friend”.

To further complicate matters, we find in today’s Desert Storm conflict that, in order to line up political support from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Emirates, Syria and Egypt, a promise had been made by the Bush Administration NOT to exercise a veto when Israel will be coerced into this misnamed “International Peace Conference”. Presumably, within this conference Israel will be pressed by a coalition of nations to accept Arab punitive demands, including the re-division of Jerusalem or face the righteous anger of its member nations. [Remember this was written before the 1991 Madrid Conference.]

Saddam Hussein, in a hypocritical appeal to world opinion, cited his “deep concern” for the Palestinians. Regrettably, the 22 Arab and 57 Muslim nations who have continually refused to assist their so‑called brother Palestinians, will again use them to emotionally load their claim for Jerusalem. The track record vis-à-vis the Jews of European nations such as France, Germany as well as Muslim countries leaves little hope of even the pretense of fairness in what will amount to international blackmail.                                     In July just before the [1991] invasion, US Ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie, who took orders from none other than Secretary of State James Baker III, gave Saddam the “green light” to invade Kuwait by saying to Saddam that …” we, the United States, are not interested in your border disputes!” (Doesn’t that make Baker the midwife if not the father of this war?)

Before the war Arafat’s P.L.O. lieutenants were meeting with US Ambassador Pelletreau in Tunis to discuss peace . . . P.L.O.

Perhaps that is why Saudi Arabia expelled all of their 350,000 Palestinians to Jordan. Even Saudi Arabia, who had financed the PLO, their terrorist organization, could no longer stomach their lies. Remember that after Saddam invaded Kuwait, Jordan’s King Hussein and the PLO’s Arafat embraced Saddam and his cause.  Kuwait later “exported” to Jordan some 350,000 Palestinians who had been long-time workers.

Louis Salome reports for the COX NEWS SERVICE from Paris that two days before the October 8 Temple Mount ambush, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein met secretly in Jordan with King Hussein and PLO leader Yasser Arafat to plan ways of heating up the Palestinians’ uprising. They sought to shift world attention from the Persian Gulf crisis to the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict.

The day after the first Allied Coalition attack, January 16, 1991, Saddam began his almost nightly barrage of 39 SCUD missiles against the civilians of Israel. The US forced Israel to refrain from any defensive act and take the incoming bombs as the only Free World country under attack without fighting back. Israel was prepared to mount an air and commando attack to wipe out the mobile SCUD launchers in western Iraq early in the war. If given the codes to identify friendly forces, Israel might have effectively stopped the SCUDs before the immense damage done to Israel and perhaps before the direct hit on the Pennsylvanian Marines barracks that killed  ?? Marines.

President George H.W. Bush in a speech to Congress ignored Israel’s cooperation but instead said that Israel must give up more land to the Palestinians to encourage the Islamic Arabs to speak trivial words of peace. Secretary of State Baker, who has shown his vituperative attitude towards Israel by refusing to set foot in that country for two years, now visits for 2 days with a subtle ‘mandate’ to do as the US says.In fulfilling his promise to the Arab nations, the Palestinians Baker whom met with in Israel were pre-approved by the P.L.O with the following In fulfilling his promise to the Arab nations, the Palestinians whom Baker met with in Israel, were pre-approved by the P.L.O.

We observe the machinations of Casper Weinberger in the mid ‘80s with that same policy advanced by Baker in the ‘90s.

(These same men are now attempting to make a Faustian bargain with the other devil, Hafez al-Asad of Syria.)

War ensued and was strangely paralleled by the description in Jeremiah 50 and 51 which describes the war exactly. We observe 39 Scud missiles fall and miraculously destroy only property. This was paralleled by the saying in Isaiah 26:20, 21 and 27 “Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut your doors behind you; withdraw for a brief while, until wrath has gone by.”

In G‑d’s Covenant with the Jewish people he repeatedly stated that “I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curse thee.” All of the great powers who cursed the Jewish people through their cruelty have eventually been brought down.

It is regretful that President Bush and Secretary of State Baker have chosen to unleash their personal bias, reminiscent of the Crusaders and the more vitriolic times of Islam toward the Jews. President Bush would be a far better leader if he retired Mr. Baker and Mr. Sununu to use his momentary popularity to act the role of a great President and not merely a hustler of multi‑national oil interests.

We, indeed, need a “New World Order”, but not what is envisioned by the great shakers of business and profit. Jerusalem again becomes that litmus test as we observe the Christian West and the Islamic East join forces once again to replace the Jews in their home, Israel with its Golden Capital of Jerusalem, the Eternal.

The Greatest Lie Ever Told About Jerusalem

Pictures from: Emetnews.org

Goebbels said, “If the lie is big enough and told often enough, it will be believed.”

Yassir Arafat and the Arabs claimed the Holy Jewish Temple Mount and Jerusalem based upon one extraordinarily huge lie told over and over again. Here then, is a brief history of the religious war against the Jewish people, the Jewish Nation-State of Israel and her 3000 year old Holy, Golden, Eternal Capital, Jerusalem.

Would be conquerors invariably issue false claims to provide justification for their march to conquest. The more recent call to “Jihad” (Holy War) against the Jews of Israel was first called in 1947 after the U.N. partition in a “Fatwa” (religious ruling) by the Saudis — supposedly to save the Al-Aksa mosque on the Temple Mount from the Jews. Thus, Yassir Arafat, (not until 1967) with the full support of the Arab Nations, later claimed the Jewish Temple Mount as the third holiest site for Islam – including all of Jerusalem. Therefore, as in the past, this claim has its root in a classic religious war — in addition to other spurious reasons offered.

Arafat resurrected this false political claim in 1967 with the same excuse that Arafat’s uncle, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin Al-Husseini, used to initiate the riots of Hebron and Jerusalem in 1929. The Grand Mufti falsely claimed that the Jews were attacking the Al-Aksa mosque and killing Muslims in his virulent war against the Jews. Then the Muslims began massacring the Jews in Jerusalem and Hebron (69 killed in Hebron alone), and other Jewish areas. Husseini later became a confidante of Adolph Hitler in Berlin, begging him to bring his Jew-killing machine to Jerusalem during WWII.

Similarly, Arafat has done everything possible to bring the larger Arab nations into the conflict, using the false claim that the Temple Mount and all of Jerusalem belongs only to Islam. Arafat desperately wants and needs a full scale war as a bloody rite of passage for his miscellaneous Palestinians. Arafat may, however, absorb whatever concessions he has been offered by Barak and delay the big war until a time of his own choosing. (Just as Mohammed did in violating the Hudaibiya Treaty in 628 C.E., see below).

This myth of Jerusalem as Islam’s third holiest city is based upon the mythical ascension of Mohammed from Al-Aksa to Heaven and has grown exponentially in the recent telling since 1967. When you tell a Big Lie and repeat it often, it achieves credibility and legs of its own. In Islam, telling a lie to infidels for the sake of enlarging your own believers’ faith or defeating the infidel is acceptable, even desirable.

Brief History

Site of the Temple Mount in the Future Jewish Capital of Jerusalem                                                                                                2 Samuel 24:21-25

The choosing of the site came when G-d punished Israel because King David ordered a census of the Jewish people after he defeated of the Philistines in a great battle. The sin was King David’s presumption that the salvation of the people came from their sheer numbers and not the Hand of G-d. A pestilence followed which only ceased when the prophet Gad advised King David to erect an altar on the stone threshing floor on Mt. Moriah that belonged to Araunah, the Jebusite. So King David purchased the site for 600 silver shekels, for which he assessed 50 silver shekels from each tribe.

(1 Chronicles 21:25).

King David built the altar and the plague ceased. The site was on Mount Moriah where Abraham had prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac in obedience to G-d’s Command as the final test of Abraham’s faith. This then was the place where the future Jerusalem was to be built and the site of the First and Second Temples. As a man of war, King David was not allowed to build the Temple, so the task fell to his son King Solomon, who built the First Temple on the Temple Mount. 1

Revision of History

These facts of recorded history have been obliterated by the recent false claims made in the name of radical Islamic Fundamentalism supported by the silence of scholars unwilling to face a “Fatwa” of assassination as was issued against Salman Rushdie. Moreover, the world media, with full access to biblical scholars and historical files, have instead accepted the Great Lie. They carry it forward without question and with a certain perverse enthusiasm, having refused to use the Bible (Torah) as a resource. They also have neglected to publicize the opinions of such experts as the 13th Century Arab biographer Yakut who noted: “Mecca is holy to Muslims and Jerusalem to the Jews.” 2

The history of Jerusalem and the site of the Jewish Holy Temple, constructed in 956 B.C.E. (2956 years ago) by King Solomon, son of King David according to G-d’s specific instructions are fully described with minute detail in the Torah. The First Temple was later destroyed by the Babylonian conqueror, Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C.E. (2370 years ago). This was not the first attempt to destroy the Jewish people but was significant in its goal to eliminate what was the repository of Jewish strength and belief.

The Second Temple was rebuilt by order of Cyrus, the King of Persia, who also paid for its reconstruction and ordered the return of the Jews exiled to Babylon in 538 B.C.E.    The Second Temple was completed and consecrated in 515 B.C.E. 2, 3, 4

King Herod, a great builder but a cruel, despotic ruler appointed by the Romans, rebuilt and added to the Second Temple for 46 years. After the Jews revolted against Roman rule, the Romans under Titus destroyed and burned the Second Temple beginning on the Ninth of Av (Tisha B’Av), 70 C.E. (1930 years ago). You may recall seeing photos of the carvings on the Arch of Titus in Rome, depicting Titus’ triumphal march through Rome, parading the sacred Temple vessels, including the great golden Menorah (Candelabra).

The Romans sent the Jews into exile again for 1,878 years. However, for all that time there was a Jewish presence and those dispersed across the globe prayed daily — “Next Year in Jerusalem!” The City and the Temple have always been central to Jewish thought and identity. (Note: Despite Arafat’s claim that there was no Jewish Temple, the Romans memorialized their capture of the Jews and their Temple in 70 C.E. by carving it in stone.)

The streets of Jerusalem and the Holy Jewish Temple were walked upon by Jewish Kings and Prophets long before the 7th century C.E. when Mohammed had a vision that he was the last chosen prophet of g-d, the moon g-d they called Allah. Mohammed was driven out of Mecca by the Arab community and fled to Medina which had three Jewish tribes. Mohammed offered himself to the Jews as G-d’s (Allah) final Prophet.

For nineteen months Mohammed offered his quibla (direction of his prayers) toward Jerusalem as a “confidence-building gesture,” until the Jews refused to believe his claims and totally rejected him. Then Mohammed gathered the pagan desert tribes under his visionary image.

Mohammed used the trick of a temporary, 10 year truce (permitted in Islam) to make a treaty called the Hudaibiya Treaty with the Jewish Koraish tribe. But, in 628 C.E. after 2 years when he was militarily stronger at the Khaidar Oasis, Mohammed killed them, decapitating the men, selling the women and children into slavery. Arafat often claims that the Oslo Treaty is similar to the Hudaibiya Treaty which Mohammed violated with impunity when he was militarily stronger. 4

Mohammed never mentioned the word Jerusalem in his compilation of Islam’s holy book, the Koran, and re-directed his “quibla” (prayers) to Mecca. If a Muslim happened to visit or pass through Jerusalem, it was called a “ziyara” unlike the holy pilgrimage to Mecca which was called by the honorific “Haj.” A mandated visit to Mecca allowed the Muslim pilgrim to add Haj to his name.

For Mohammed, Jerusalem was a despised place of the Jews and had no place in his vision for his Islamic religion. It was as if he could not excise the Jewish essence from holy Jewish City of Jerusalem, although it is said that he believed that the Last Judgment of man would issue from Jerusalem.

Mohammed spent his early years among the Jewish tribes particularly in and around Yathrib (Medina). It was, therefore, not unusual for Mohammed to include a pilgrimage to Mecca since the Jewish Torah called for the Jews to make three pilgrimages to Jerusalem each year on Sukkot, Pesach, and Shavuot. There is much in the Koran that finds its source in the Torah (Jewish Bible).

Before the days of Mohammed, Christian conquerors had occupied Jerusalem (within the Byzantine Empire). Bringing one’s god into battle demonstrated that both their armies and their religion were superior to those of their victims when they won. So, they usually built their holy places on top of their victims’ holy places, which both the Christians and the Muslims did on the Temple Mount, to absorb the strength of their conquered adversaries and to convert them to their religion. Even under the threat of the sword, the Jews refused to convert and allow their lineage to be absorbed, which would in effect, transfer G-d’s Covenant to their conquerors.

Mohammed died in 632 C.E.  Jerusalem was subsequently captured from the Christians by Khaliph Omar, six years after Mohammed’s death, accompanied by the apostate Yemenite Jew, Ka’ab al Akhbar (the same syndrome as today). There was a struggle over who would assume Mohammed’s role as leader of the new religion of Islam which he had envisioned.

So, another conqueror (the Muslims) had superseded the Christian invaders and their mosque was proof of their superiority in battle and religion. But, it was much more. It was also to be a mighty symbol in the struggle for leadership of the growing movement of Islam. Since Mecca was already the location of Mohammed’s power with its own priest cult, if a claimant wanted to redirect that power to himself as the new leader of Islam, he would also need an uncontested and new base of religious power. He could not make war on Mecca and expect to be accepted as Mohammed’s rightful heir.

Jerusalem, despite Mohammed’s rejection, was still looked upon in the then Arab world as a powerful symbol where the ancient Jews had placed their faith. The Jews considered Jerusalem the center of the world and the earthly dwelling place of HaShem… the one G-d. It was not surprising that the Arabs and other nations wanted to own and control this source of power.

Approximately 60 years after Mohammed’s death, the Dome of the Rock was built by Khaliph Abd El Malik of Syria in a first effort to turn Muslim prayers toward his edifice. It was not a mosque.  El Malik wanted to demonstrate Islam’s superiority over the Christians and Jews they had driven from Jerusalem. This was primarily for political purposes, not necessarily religious.   El Malik failed in his bid to become the replacement for Mohammed and the Muslims continued to direct their “quibla” (direction of prayers) toward Mecca and the revered Kaba”a stone monolith. The Al-Aksa Mosque was built 20 years after the Dome of the Rock or 80 years after Mohammed died. 4, 5

The Church, Saint Mary of Justinian, constructed on the Jewish Temple Mount, later became the foundation for the Dome of the Rock built by Khaliph Abd El Malik over and around the church in 691-692. Approximately in 711 C.E., Malik’s son Abd El Wahd, who ruled from 705 to 715 – reconstructed the Christian-Byzantine Church of St. Mary and converted it into a mosque. He left the Christian structure as it was, a typical Byzantine “basilica” structure with a row of pillars on either side of the rectangular “ship” in the center. All he added was an onion-like dome on top of the building to make it look like a mosque. He named it Al-Aksa, so it would sound like the one mentioned in the Koran. 5

El-Buraq Myth

Early Islamic scholars, with no particular political agenda, interpreted Mohammed’s dream flight to Al-Aksa * (lit. the furthest place) was to an Islamic heavenly place where the purest and most holy mosque which would be in the courtyard of Allah. That, indeed, would be the “furthest place” or “Al Aksa.” (Note: Keep in mind that there was no Al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount until 80 years after Mohammed’s death.) The revised myth of today names the earthly Al-Aksa Mosque built by Khaliph El Malik on the site of the Jewish Temple as the basis of the Muslim claim to the Temple Mount. This is substantially different than that of the early non-political scholars of Islam. Serious Islamic scholars viewed the tale as merely a folk story. The mythical story of Mohammed’s night flight, which evolved from unidentified sources after Mohammed’s death, went something like this:

“In the time it takes for a drop of water to spill from a tipped over jug, Mohammed flew, in a dream, to Al-Aksa (the furthest place). He flew on a winged horse named El-Buraq which had the face and breasts of a woman and the tail of a peacock. El-Buraq landed on the rock upon which it was believed Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac as G-d’s ultimate test of Abraham’s faithfulness. (The Muslims maintain that it was Ishmael, son of the Abraham’s Egyptian concubine Hagar who was sacrificed.) This giant horse was tethered for a period of time on the Rock or foundation stone of the Holy Jewish Temple, leaving a hoof print on the Rock. Then El-Buraq leapt to the 7th Heaven where Mohammed purportedly met all the ancient Jewish prophets (including J…s) and received their blessings as the last Prophet of Allah. Then (in the dream) he flew to Mecca as the last authorized prophet of Allah.” (Koran Sura 17:1). 6

This is the basis of Yassir Arafat’s present claim to the Jewish Temple Mount (and, by extension, all of Jerusalem) as the third holiest place for Islam after Mecca and Medina. He has called his recent terrorism against Israeli Jews, the Aksa “intifada” and renamed the Western Wall: the “El-Buraq Wall”. The Muslim “Wakf” (caretakers), are presently excavating and destroying all evidence of Jewish artifacts under the Temple Mount, and Arafat has claimed there is nothing in, on or under the Temple Mount to prove its Jewish history. The Muslim Arabs’ massive excavation under the Temple Mount is more than removing the traces of the Jew, but is a virtual displacement of the Jewish religion by Arafat for Islam. 7

Tragically, Ehud Barak has not objected to this de-Judaizing of the Jewish Temple — even to stop these grossly illegal excavations.

Revision of the Myth

During the military campaign of Saladin in 1187 against the Christian Crusaders, the myth of Mohammed’s flight to a heavenly mystical Al-Aksa was revised to state that his dream flight was to an earthly Al-Aksa on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Here we find a political revision of a myth by Saladin (a Muslim and a Kurd) to attack the Christian infidel Crusaders who had previously conquered and occupied Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. To seal their earlier conquest, the Christians Crusaders converted the Dome of the Rock to a Church called Templum Domeni. They made Al-Aksa a church called Templum Solomonis (Solomon’s Temple). Both were reconverted to Muslim shrines by Saladin after his victory in 1187. Both Christians and Muslims, each in own their time, claimed supersedence over the Jews, trying to demonstrate their superiority by conquest.

Strangely, the succession of conquerors demonstrated the universal belief that the Jewish Temple did indeed house the invisible G-d of the Jews and whoever held this mystical Temple also controlled vast powers. A succession of conquerors found to their disappointment that they could not tap or unlock those powers and were left holding only the bricks and mortar.

Arafat proclaims almost daily since the signing of Oslo that “With the children of the stones, I will fight until all of Israel is the new State of Palestine and its flag flies over the churches and mosques of Jerusalem, the capital of that State and only that State, and whoever doesn’t like it can go drink Gaza (or Dead Sea) water — or go to Hell”.

It seems clear that Arafat and the Arab nations have taken the liberty of distorting a mythical folk tale into the substance of a false religious claim on the Jewish Temple Mount and the environs of all Jerusalem. I believe it was Goebbels who developed the concept that, if a lie is big enough, it will be believed. Although the World Media and the nations hostile to Israel as a Jewish State, know better, they have accepted this El-Buraq myth and its attendant lies which support Arafat’s claims, justifying their displacement of the Jews.

Arafat has undertaken the task to literally erase the past of the Jews. In doing so, he simultaneously erases the present which includes their future. In essence, by giving up the Temple Mount (among the many other concessions by Ehud Barak) he delegitimizes the reasons for having a Jewish State. This erasure of history is moving swiftly with Barak, Clinton and Arafat in total agreement. The radical Jewish Left, both in Israel and in America, is hastening this erasure by not only denying the past but has carried it into the children’s classrooms.

Photos of the Dome of the Rock & AL-Aksa Mosque

The photos, which can be downloaded from the Web, were taken in 1875 by the family Bonfils of Lebanon. It seems amply clear that for centuries the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aksa Mosque were left unattended, without the flood of Muslim worshipers who would have come if this was indeed the third holiest site in all Islam. The buildings show decay and lack of repair. The weeds and grass grew up between the stone flooring, proving that few Muslim feet trod the Temple Mount. (Recall that Jews were prohibited by their rabbis from walking across the surface of the Jewish Temple Mount since, without intent, they might tread on the place where the Holy of Holies stood with the Ark of the Covenant.)

The Temple Mount was held by the Muslim Turks for several hundred years. Nothing was done to repair the walls or the roof tiles on the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aksa Mosque. There are no records of high Muslim clerics or kings paying homage to Jerusalem by visiting Al-Aksa or the Dome of the Rock, nor is there evidence of caretakers or clerics to greet or preach to Muslims coming to worship during those hundreds of years. Granted the Temple Mount was a magnet for conquerors seeking its power but, once in hand, she did not give up her secrets. Only the Jews seemed to want to stay and bask in her spiritual glow.

It wasn’t until the Jews recaptured the Temple when they reunified Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Days War that the Arabs paid any attention to the area. King Hussein of Jordan previously held the area for nineteen years and did nothing to reclaim it. His only interest was to destroy the fifty-eight Jewish synagogues, desecrate the ancient Mt. of Olives Jewish cemetery, and drive the Jews out of what is now called East Jerusalem by the Arabs. King Hussein, along with the Arab nations who lost all the wars they started (to wipe out the Jewish State) vented his fury by destroying everything Jewish.

The Muslims claim that either the Temple Mount or Jerusalem is holy to Islam is false based upon irrefutable historical evidence. Arafat, however, has found it quite easy to tell the Big Lie since he received such positive support from the Nations and the Media. Strangely, he also received support from the Catholic Church who was willing to cut off the branch upon which their religion rested. If, as Arafat claims, there was no Jewish Temple, then J…s, the Jew, could never have thrown out the money changers from the Temple, nor studied there or even existed.

Regrettably, Arafat has also received support from Leftist Jews who despise their heritage and have no honor for their national memory. Their willingness to give up what constitutes the foundation and core of Judaism did not bring them the affection and acceptance they sought, but rather they have earned undisguised contempt from the Arab world who does honor their own religion.

While their Koranic teachings (fervently passed on to their children), mandate them to despise the infidel (Jews and Christians), nevertheless they have a certain respect for People of the Book (the Torah). However, Jews who give up their religion, land, water and Holy sites are viewed as beneath contempt deserving conquest and serving Muslims as Dhimmis” (low people). Provoking the uneducated Muslim masses with myths and religious fantasies is not a new method to be used in a war. The political or religious demagogue can stir up their followers into a frenzy of riots, wars, suicide bombings, road ambush with automatic weapons — simply by proclamation — as Arafat is doing now.

As for Arafat’s twisting of Koranic law and customs by claiming what Mohammed had rejected, that Jerusalem is holy to Islam, Arafat would likely be condemned by a “Fatwa” in Mohammed’s time. In our time, his leaders will discard any agreements he may have made with the Jews as inconsistent with Koranic law and declare the agreements null and void. Arafat’s likely replacements have already stated this loud and clear.

The claiming of Jewish Holy Sites, like Joseph’s Tomb, has been a successful gambit by Arafat. His efforts are consistent with the goals of many nations to remove the thought and presence of the Jews from the Land of Israel. Separating the Jews from our historical touchstones of religious sites (especially, the tombs of the Patriarchs, Rachel and Joseph), and the memory of our glorious past is intended to weaken our resolve to stay. Sadly, this has been assisted by the Jewish Left in the mistaken assumption that a Jewish nation unattached to an old religion would be more acceptable to Islam and even to the Christian nations of Europe and America.

Many observant Jews and Christians who believe in the destiny of the Jewish Nation as ordained by G-d to be a “Light unto the nations”, feel that we will experience G-d’s wrath for challenging His Laws. The Arab nations’ challenge to Western civilization, with their accumulation of catastrophic weapons of mass destruction, including NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical), missiles, then the Biblical prophecies of the War of Gog and Magog could soon prove true (Read: Ezekiel: Chapters 36-39).

I have drawn the above facts from various scholarly sources, including Dr. Manfred Lehman, z”l, a scholar and writer for the ALGEMEINER JOURNAL and Encyclopedia Judaica. The photos (which can be downloaded from the Internet) were called to my attention by Dr. Murray Kahl, a dedicated research scholar whose clear reporting makes it difficult for the Media to take too many liberties in their efforts to distort and spin the news. 8

It must be understood that the history of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount fills hundreds of volumes which cannot be offered in this brief review. However, it is all there if you wish to look for it.
